Ben Browder Joining Stargate SG-1 Cast
Ananamous Coward writes "Ben Browder, best known as Farscape's John Crichton, will become a SG-1 regular starting from season 9 (yes, there are already rumors about a 10th season), joining the SG-1 team although is role is quite unclear. He will fill the gap left by Anderson who's unlikely to return except for small appearances.
Claudia Black, Farscape's Aeryn Sun, is also going to play in a fair number of episodes"
Sorry for all the Exc. points, but I LOVE this man!
I can only imagine he will bring some new life to that series. I am so excited, I will actually start watching it again!

B5 wasn't designed to go past 5. It was designed to be 5 seasons total. Read the 5 season DVD booklet sometime. It explains what they had to go through to get someone to approve a 5 season series.

How will this affect the rumoured Stargate movie that is apparently in planning stages?
I could be way offbase here, so if I'm wrong, correct me. That said...
The movie was in the planning stages when they thought season six would be the last episode of SG-1. They wrote that episode intending it to be a series finale. (Kind of appropriate... the series would have started and ended with Abydos.) As it was, they got picked up for an additional season.
The storyline that would have been the Stargate 2 movie ended up becoming the storyline for the season seven finale. That's probably why the ending felt a bit... well, epic I guess is the best word, with a gigantic air-to-air battle in the Antarctic with the Prometheus and its F-302's versus a bunch of death gliders and Al'kesh bombers. (For those who didn't read the article, Browder's character was the one who led the squadron of F-302's.)
Anyway... I'm kinda interested in seeing how this plays out, especially with this "new enemy" we're supposed to be seeing. Also, Claudia Black's character will be coming back for five episodes... that also should be interesting to see.
Just my $.02...
*SPOILER ALERT*
Don Davis makes a slight return in a recent episode that aired on Sky One (To show up state side in a month) where they teased that he might take over the SGC again. The reason I think they might do this is because I think the actor who plays Daniel Jackson is about to leave the show (again) since part of the plot of this episode is that he's on a ship with Hammond to check up on the Atlantis team.
Maybe I should have signaled a geek alert as well.
Anyway, Ben Browder wouldn't be the first farscape actor to hit the SG1 circuit since this episode in question also featured his busty counterpart Ms. Black.
"The Wright brothers were the first to fly with a heavier-than-air machine, but boy did they have a lousy plane"
Episode twelve of both SG-1 and Atlantis are due to air on Sky One on the 4th Jan, which seems to be a week before US viewers will even see episode eleven
FYI Atlantis showed in Canada first, eps 12-15 are already out and about.

Commander John Crichton was not in the USAF. He was a scientist working on an IASA project. Think Pete Siebold with TierOne/SpaceShipOne.
