Galactic Conquest Final Version Released

gonzoxl5 writes "The final verison of the excellent Star Wars Galactic Conquest mod for Battlefield 1942 has been released. This is the final release of Galactic-Conquest before the mod team (Prolific Games) moves onto a new and currently undisclosed project. A fantastic mod with over 60 vehicles and a host of maps from the Star Wars universe, this total conversion of the BF1942 engine plays better than most 'offical' star wars titles.

I played some version of this mod a while ago, but... It was slow then... Hopefully this one will be a LOT better. Sure hope so.

    Have fun is it?

Seems to be a 800MB download so I hope it is worth it.

PC Zone recently reviewed the R4 version of the mod, they gave it 85% and a PC Zone essential rating (two pages in the mag after they gave the SWG Jump To Lightspeed expansion 71%).

The nice thing about this mod is that its not just replacing models and maps, its been built by a talented and committed team that know their subject matter really well (the project director recent won a major prize in the Atom Films SW fan film contest btw), the result is that this mod plays and feels like Star Wars.

Lucasarts are fully aware of this mod and have agreed the content with the dev team.

Part of the agreement is that Lucasfiles is named as the primary download site.

I get through about 50 MB and this it quits.

Just a warning as I may be doing something wrong.

5 is a lot better than the previous releases. I actually uninstalled the release #4(?) because it was choppy and laggy when I played. I see the new one has better maps. I wasn't expecting it to be pretty (outdated BF1942 engine) as Star Wars: Battlefront, but it was fun. I actually got third place yesterday when I played on a new ice map.

It's ok. The collision detection seemed a little hairy on the speederbike. I wish I had someone to play it with (MP only). Someone set up us a server and post it. I can't find any active servers with A.S.E.
