Mandrakesoft Acquires Conectiva

French Mandrakesoft is acquiring all shares of brazilian Conectiva for a total amount of 1.79 million EUR (2.3 million USD) in stock." CNet has coverage of the merger as well. I would venture to say "not that much". Conectiva was apparently the first Linux distro to cater to countries outside of the US and Europe.

For a company that recently claimed bankruptcy I just can't see this merger as being fruitful in the future.
There is no such thing as a "merge" except maybe in investorspeak. One company buys another, that's it.
