No Secret Plan at Google?

Their stuff works, works well, and they seem to fit the "benevolent benefactor" quite nicely.
What are you getting so indignant about?
Did you pay to use Google Maps?
Did Google promise you that they'd release maps of the whole world?
Did you sign some sort of promisary contract with Google?
No?
Then kindly stfu.
It's in beta, as you are fully aware. Feel free to comment on it's feature set, provide feedback on what could make it better etc. But do you really think they don't realize it's not complete? What's beta for?

The top three execs at Google have sold over 500 million dollars worth of stock in the last 3 months, which is more than the company itself has made in TOTAL profit since the day it was founded.
Guess everyone really has forgotten what happened in the last dot.com boom?
