Wikipedia Reaches Half a Million Articles
Faraaz Damji (frazzydee) writes "The English Wikipedia has reached 500,000 full-length articles. Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia collaboratively edited by thousands of users worldwide, and the article count has been increasing every day. Thanks to all the users who make it happen, especially the ones who put in hours every day writing to make this invaluable resource that we all love."
How many of these are spam "articles", or two-word stubs?
But I won't do the USA chant, of course.
I don't know about you guys but Wikipedia has helped me in countless ways and I'm extremely grateful for this resource. Anyone who doesn't recognize the significance of this milestone, Wikipedia's inherent value as a knowledge source, how it influences the open source community, and how it scares the living crap out of companies like M$, is a turd....
I've edited roughly 80 articles and included false information in them, backed up by seemingly legitimate sources. Most people unfortunately take sources at face value, ie. looks professional, looks like a valued scientific publication.. good enough for me.
Some of the alterations I've made are subtle, some are outright dishonest and quackery..
Have fun with wiki everybody.

Because we all know that your name is a great indication of ability and knowledge... ;-)
Come to think on it, most of the Phd's I know hang about chatrooms calling themselves "r00dboi2004" or "r0x0rd00d" so who knows.
I remember when the internet was all fields you know....
"The only criticism left of Wikipedia is the percieved lack of reliability."
Well, given what Wikipedia is, that's a pretty significant core issue.. don't you think?
