Classic Math Puzzle Cracked

An anonymous reader writes "This is cool - if mind-bending. A century ago, a self-taught math genius from India noticed some patterns in how numbers can be created by adding other numbers. Now a grad student has finished the job showing that the patterns apply to all prime numbers, not just some. There's more on the Indian math guy here."

  1. A great leap for Indian Academia! by Anonymous Coward · · Score: 0, Flamebait

I find it's extraordinary that such a theorem hailed from the greatest democracy in the world. It shows that the Indian universities are producing top-notch talent and are able to compete with leading western nations in regards to know-how.

It is not surpising that a lot of multi-nationals have decided to bring some of their work here where the talent pool is a lot deeper and where workers don't have extreme demands like in the UK or Germany.

This will only enhance the reputation of India on the global scale.

    Which is nice.

I don't have a bias against Muslims. I do, however, have a bias against any government that forces religion. Religion is a personal choice, to decide or ignore if you want. It is not something to be forced by the government. I have a "bias" against any forced religion. It happens that Pakistan's law forces Islam upon citizens, so Islam is relevant here in this thread.

So, do you think that opposition to forced Islam means opposition to Islam in general? Then there is the unjustified aggression and occupation by Pakistan against Kashmir. Kashmir never threatened or attacked Pakistan.

It's time to boot out such ignorant, partonizing frustrated individuals from slashdot(or boycott slashdot itself for having allowed such arrogant statements). Speaks volumes about the incompetent editors of slashdot, doesn't it? They would probably prove that they're unbiased by letting through future posts that speak of
"Some black american guy who plays a bit of Basketball" or "some fag from princeton who keeps jabbering about game theory" or "some american chess guy who's running round the globe to save his ass".
Such posts are in real bad taste, to say the least, and the editors are showing their pathetic standards by letting them through. STFW for Srinivasa Ramanujam, read through his findings, (given your negative IQ , you might spend the next decade of your life trying to comprehend what he put together in a year) and you'll know the enormity of the achievements of "Indian math guy".
