Mandrakesoft Changes Name to Mandriva

joestar writes "Following its recent merger with Conectiva, Mandrakesoft has decided to change its name to 'Mandriva' for two reasons: "1. The recent Mandrakesoft - Conectiva merger calls for a new identity that better represents the combination of two key companies and their global presence. 2. The long-winding trademark lawsuit with Hearst Corporation has reached a point where we decided it is more reasonable for us to move forward.". Mandrake is dead, long life to Mandriva!"

Good god, could the name be any more lame. I wonder how many dollars were spent in meetings to come up with this new moniker? Inquiry for Mandriva management: If you're going to change your name could you at least come up with something remotely penguin or linux sounding? It was bad enough when your company was named after a duck instead of a penguin. You could have even broken ranks and selected a frog species as the inspiration for your name. There are plenty of species of frogs in latin america and Mandrake is, after all, a French company.

I can't belive you include Night at the Roxbury as a "decent one".
