Running a Website from Your Prison Cell
Eh-Wire writes "Although prisoners Internet access is highly restricted, this hasn't prevented many inmates from getting around the restrictions with the judicious use of phone and snail-mail privileges to network with friends, relatives, activists, and associates to provide content to their websites. Some use their websites to badger witnesses and prosecuters, while others plead their case or phish for pen-pals. Some have successfully challenged their convictions through their websites, which complicates efforts by authorities to silence them. Websites domiciled outside of the respective jurisdictions further complicate the issue. Yahoo News has additional commentary on this controversial subject."

If you view the drug war as a fixed-length eradication mission, it's a failure and always will be. If you view it as a long term, perhaps permanent drive to avoid a situation like China during the Opium Wars, well...then it can be only considered a major success compared to the alternative.
Anyone who was alive in the 70s can tell you that things have only gotten better in the workplace and socially as a result of the reduction in penetration of society of drugs. It was _everywhere_ then, in plain view, and affecting the behavior of nearly all.
The key difference between then and now was the bald acceptance of such things as quaaludes, prescription valium, diet pills, cocaine, marijuana and alcohol while driving. Ever wonder why pictures of people from back then seem so bugged out? Don't wonder.
I doubt many of those bitching were alive back then, however, and do not understand the logic.
