Behind the Closed Doors of AMD's Chip Production

rokali writes "Tom's Hardware is running an article on AMD's chipmaking procedure, plants, and future. Check out the pictures of Fab 36, their new plant slated to open in 2006, which will put of the next generation of 65nm chips. From the article: 'Currently, AMD's devices in Dresden are still produced on 200 mm wafers; the new APM 3.0 using 300 mm wafers won't be ramped up until Fab 36 opens. Production startup at the new facility is slated for the beginning of 2006, at which point the company will have invested an additional $2.5 billion.'"

Humour is subjective. It doesn't matter if you don't think that it's funny. Other people do.

I guess I can't see the difference between an insult veiled as a lame atempt at comedy and an unveiled insult.

An insult veiled as a lame attempt at comedy? Do you really think that I look down upon the people of Dresden because some people who once lived in the same region died in wartime? That doesn't even make sense.

My joke was not an insult, because there's nothing to be insulted about. It was in poor taste, sure. A lot of humour involves bad taste. It's still humour.

Randomly hoping that people die, on the other hand, isn't funny. It's just stupid. It's even more stupid because you assumed I was from the USA, and I'm not. You might be closer if you said that you hoped my father died in an IRA bombing, but even then you'd just get a blank stare and "huh?" because you've no idea who my father is and to wish him dead is stupid, pointless, and I couldn't care less if you wished him dead.

So, to sum it up: me == funny, you == pointless and stupid.
