What to Expect from Linux 2.6.12

apt-get writes "Saw this Linuxworld report from the annual Australian Linux conference, Linux.conf.au, in Canberra last week. The article outlines some of the new features we can expect for the 2.6.12 kernel release, including: support for trusted computing, and security enhanced Linux. The kernel developers are also working on improving the 'feel' of the Linux desktop with inotify for file managers and events notification so hardware 'just works'. Unfortunately no release date other than 'sometime soon' is given."

roundabouts are the greatest traffic controlling device ever. i love them, for during the day, they regulate the flow of traffic with no complex computers, no lights, signals or complex rules - just a lump of concrete, and look right.

at night they are good places to put the back end out and wildly fishtail around like a lunatic. =)

Isn't that categorically not what the trusted computing platform is for?

Yeah, and IBM & Friendz are members of ODSL because they're Caritas spinoffs.

No release date is given because:
    a) it's always been like that - it's gonna come out when it's ready and most likely there's a lot of work to be done.
    b) the post-BitKeeper CVS management with Git must be less convenient which slows down development.
