China to Top U.S. in Broadband Subscribers

An anonymous reader writes "China already is rapidly approaching the United States as the country with the largest number of broadband subscribers, according to the El Segundo, Calif.-based firm, and by the end of the year, China is expected to have 34 million subscribers, compared to 39 million in the United States. By the end of 2007, China is expected to have 57 million broadband subscribers, compared to 54 million in the United States, with an even wider lead in the years to follow."

Democracy: an old Greek invention, over 2500 years old. China approach tgo government is older than that! (Not as old as Summer or ancient Egypt, but much older than 2500 years) Chinese communism is not Marxist, but rather a follow-up of the ancient Chinese style of government.

Christianity: an old Jewish sect, 2000 years old. Chinese religions are older than that. Al major religions are about the same, Budhism, Taoism, Chistianity, Islam, Hindu, they were all started by charismatic leaders, have holy books, moral prescriptions, etc. Sure, minor details differ (is there an afterlife or not, is there reincarnation or not, are the Gods fair or unfair, angry or calm, humanlike or not etc). Budhism, Taoism, Confucianism are as good as Christianity, Islam or Hinduism. Religions can be practiced or ignored, modern societies are mainly secular (at least some parts of Asia most of Europe are), it does not make any difference.

hahahaha do you really think that?

ok, keep on thinking that China would own the US in a war, then when the actual war comes out you can see how damned ignorant you are.

China itself doesn't WANT to fight the US. Nor are they developing their military to do so. As a matter of fact China won't have anywhere near the CURRENT US militaries capabilities by at least 2030. By 2030, we would have adanced 30 years into the future of military tech, so no worries there. China is aiming for regional superiority, not world superpower status for the next 50 years. Also, almost all military analysts say that by 2050 Japan will be the number one regional power in that region, followed by China.

Ooops, looks you are the ignorant one here buddy.

You are an idiot. China isn't communist, and hasn't been for decades (or ever, if you're being pedantic.) Nowadays it's ultracapitalist. Broadband there works the same way it does here (although admittedly the speeds aren't quite as good for sites not in Asia -- I usually can't get more than 20 kbps down from kernel.org using Shanghai Telecom).

Oh, and just to annoy you further: the country with the lowest infant mortality rate in the Americas is none other than Cuba. This, mind you, is despite the long standing American trade embargo which prevents US pharma corps (who make most of the world's medicine) from trading with the country.

Their doctors are so good, in fact, that Venezuela (an exceptionally oil rich country whose current administration is somewhat anti-American) has struck a deal with Cuba: doctors for oil. No joke.

Not that Cuba is better than the US or anything (whatever that means), but you really should get out and see more of the world. Sometimes I think Americans (and I am American) gobble up propaganda more readily than even Chinese people.
