Apple's First Flops

Sabah Arif writes "Apple began the eighties with two major flops under its belt: the Apple III and the LISA. Both machines were attempts at breaking into the business market. They were technologically advanced, but major flaws prevented their success."

    Mac OS 10.4.1

Cripples mail bundles because Apple can't be bothered to fix the problem instead treating it as 'resolved' by removing the functionality altogether.

This is part of a new trend for Apple, who really just don't give a shit about anything anymore instead relying on hype, spin, bullshit and a collection of gullible fans to sell their products

Other flops include the notion that the Mac is good platform for graphics. It is a rubbish platform for graphics and is destined to become the SGI of recent times. Expensive hardware that doesn't deliver compared to a PC at a fraction of the price. That gets old really quickly.

Remember the Mac XL. No, and fortunately for Apple it did not sell enough of them to ruin it's reputation completely.

    The Mac XL never worked.
It wouldn't run stuff written for the LISA and it wouldn't run stuff written for the Mac, even though it was sold as a Mac.

Apples customer service response? 'You bought a $10k piece of $hit? It's yours.' Too bad Magneson-Moss didn't have it's teeth back then. I've no interest in dealing with that A$$hole company ever again.

Ah yes. Another reason why I'll never have another Appple computer product again. No support, no games, no harddrive, no future. I don't even look at Apple Computer after that one. I hold a grudge forever. The only good thing I remember is playing Bard's Tale on that that old thing way back in the day and that for writing school papers it beat the hell out of a typewriter.

Remember when Microsoft bought 25% of Apple and bailed them out?

Part of that deal is that Apple can't create a competing OS to Windows.

    Apple HAS to sell hardware.

ahh.. c'mon.. you know you want one... glistening brushed steel case... smooth silent running.... polite little 'boing' sound at boot....
seriously though, I have it hooked up to IIyama Vision Master pro 19 inch and it's fine, also on the Compaq 1720 tft it's good. I have seen them on Samsung and on apple's tft's.. believe me it's fine. I would advise you to go to the shop and see for yourself.
