FFVII Advent Children Leaked

FF7:AC Movie writes "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children has been leaked on the Internet early this morning by a pirate group from Hong Kong known as BiEN (which incidentally means good in French). The Square-Enix film was due to release in Japan on September 14th 2005 after numerous delays. As for the North American release date, it has been pushed back to a cloudy end of November."

It says on the site that the subtitles are Japanese. So basically anyone that downloads this and doesn't know Japanese is going to have to wait a while to watch it.

Hironobu Sakaguchi has long since left Square Enix to form the company Mist Walker. He had, as far as I know, no involvement in the creation of Advent Children, beyond the ideas he put into the original Final Fantasy VII.

And English Fansubs here: http://divxstation.com/subtitle.asp?sId=46977. They work and make sense, but I've only watched the first 5 min, so don't shoot me if they suck.

Wow, that was a lot faster than I thought... Just to update everyone, you can download an english subtitle file for the movie now (seperate download). Expect more and more fansubs over the next 2 weeks. The subtitle that comes with the movie is japanese, so that's kind of redundant.

we . . . were just upset that they put the Final Fantasy name on a movie that really shouldn't have been associated with such a beloved franchise. Perhaps if it were marketed as "By the creators of Final Fantasy" rather than being labeled part of Final Fantasy, we wouldn't have had such expectations.

Why? What about it was not Final Fantasy? It had all the FF cliches: a quest to go round the world collecting seven something-or-others, a party of misfits, a crazy villain who trys to destroy stuff just for the hell of it, random encounters with evil that turns out not exactly to be evil, noble sacrifices, a lot of Gaia crap, and a final showdown with an entity several screens high.

I repeat: in what way did it not perfectly live up to the Final Fantasy experience?

I loved FFVII, and I have to say it, SE fucked up. This was beautifully done, but it destroyed Cloud. The tacked on "ending" ending was horseshit, and in all it was just a retread of the game, sept now we get to see a second beloved character die for no reason other than to kill them.
