  1. Rally the troops? on Gamer Claims Identifying As a Lesbian Led To Xbox Live Ban · · Score: 1

I think we can all generally agree that this is outrageous, and blatant discrimination.

Nobody is talking about what to do about it though. Seems to me we should all be going on and defining our orientation on our profiles, whether it be straight, gay, or lesbian.

See if they start banning hundreds or thousands of people...and if they don't ban those labeled straight too then there's great grounds for a lawsuit there...

I've recently started on this routine. It's as simple as you can get, you can do it anywhere, and it only takes a few minutes out of your week to do. And it works.

I also recommend buying some simple weights (should be able to find some at Wal-mart even), and just lift whenever your hands are free, such as when your reading a big article online. Some Googling can find you some alternative routines you can do with the weights too, so you work out different muscles.

As some people have mentioned, Karate is a really fun way to exercise, and it has tons of other benefits such as discipline and self-defense training. There are other options too if you wanna get out of the house, such as Swimming or Kendo.

I've never quite understood this concept of why it's "cool" to pick on Java. It has pros and cons like any programming language, but for some reason because it's pros skew more towards the ease-of-coding side rather than performance, it becomes some kind of a pissing match between programmers about "skill" involved. It's the equivalent of a large tournament player debasing some "n00b" because he only casually plays Counter-Strike for a couple hours a day. It's absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary, and almost equates to a form of silly fanboyism.

As a 3rd year CSC student in one of the better engineering college's in the US, I must agree 100% with the remarks of Professor Dewar. I do not feel remotely close to prepared to enter into even many entry-level programming jobs with just what has been taught in my courses. HOWEVER, I'm not really understanding as to how this pertains specifically to the Java language. This is an issue with CS departments nationwide, not with what languages are being used in the classroom. If all that is taught is a couple steps beyond Hello World, it's hardly the coding language to blame for poor training.

Hmmm, I should restate my position a bit clearer...

The game annoys me in numerous ways, but like I said, it's still a good RPG overall. It's much more than the couple things I mentioned, as everyone seems to think those are my big beefs with the game or something. My biggest beef IS the combat system, which, while a good change of pace, I find either boring or too ridiculous in just trying to keep your guys alive. But overall I wouldn't say there's any major flaw, more like a LOT of minor ones.

So, I lied when I said I'm "hating" the game. I'm just "hating" it compared to all these bulls**t glowing reviews and people talking like the game is actually something big. It's a solid RPG, nothing more, nothing less. Maybe like, 8 out of 10...

Oh, and the Summons and "Limits", suck, HARD. And that's a big turnoff for me. Yeah, stupid reason, I know, but that's one of my things...

Yes, I loved VIII. I'll defend it to my death, best Final Fantasy ever. I've cosplayed Squall, he's the best. Don't care what you think, that game just did it for me. I find VII horribly overated. Maybe if they did a remake, but I can't get into the original. Honestly, the 2D games are where my true love for the series lies, especially in VI...

Yeah, I said the series should "finalize" already. That's just my disdain at the idea of 3 FFXIII's releasing. It's becoming more about whoring out the franchise than making a quality RPG IMO.

It is pointless, although that probably has more to do with how it's taught. Despite 99% of the class being CSC majors, nothing is done to relate the class to computers. The class is entirely matrix math. And matrix math can be done on a calculator or computer. And if it can be done by a computer, teaching it by hand is pointless.

The way it's taught now, it's simply that age old student cycle: memorize->test->forget->repeat

First off, I can't get over the feeling the game plays itself. The new combat system is NOT an improvement in my opinion, although it is something different. However, the combat system of the old games is not the thing I would have been changing had I been developing XII.

The level grinding necessary in numerous places of the game is a pain in the ass, and it seems this helps mask the relative shortness of the game compared to some of it's predecessors. There's also a lot of menu annoyances, and the license system is kind of stupid.

That's only scratching the surface of the problems I have with the game, although, know this: it's definitely a good game. It's a great RPG, to be sure. It doesn't however live up to the hype nor what I expect from this series. My problem is with people harolding it as near perfect or one of the greatest FF's ever and whatnot. Not even close. I'd recommend the new Final Fantasy III well before XII...

This series is starting to get tired. It hit it's peak with VII and VIII, but has been downhill since. I seriously think it's about time we saw the FINAL Final Fantasy. Although, again, I admit, it's not a BAD game, just not THE GREATEST game...or anywhere close...

Even if your completely against the premise of the Wii and/or the DS, you can't simply ignore them completely and then say there's no innovation in gaming. That's about as innovative as you can get, and there's also stuff like Spore as well to remember...

I do agree however the industry has become rather derivative. Seriously, THREE Final Fantasy XIII's? Ok, that series may be ready to die now (especially since Final Fantasy 8 was the last truly good one). Halo is great, but it's one of a bazillion FPS's (I don't think ANY FPS could get me excited these days, although Red Steel has certainly peeked my interest). Racing is probably the most boring genre on the market (barring Mario Kart and Burnout type stuff), and they're on what now, Ridge Racer 7? Madden's well over it's 20th iteration, with hardly significant upgrades year-to-year and no competition. Compared to the rest of gaming's history, this last gen was relatively boring in my opinion, and I definitly could use with some innovative titles (DS games and Guitar Hero FTW!).

But I'm hoping that's where the Wii comes in. If nothing else, it's something new, so I'm all for it. Considering how much play I've gotten out of my DS (and boy do I love my new DS Lite), I trust Nintendo to help bring the industry out of this horrible slump of repetitive gameplay. I mean, the industry wouldn't even be here if it weren't for them, so they at least deserve the benefit of the doubt. I think Wii looks awesome (despite the name), and it's definitly more exciting than anything anybody else is showing, and that's because it's the ONLY thing I see coming that's not just derivative.

No, you only looked at the bad. You pointed out the guy who said that these pictures were probably "touched up", but ignored Ubisoft's own claims that these are totally legit, real screenshots. You blatantly called it a GunCon game, while completely ignoring Game Informer's quote about it feeling like a true FPS, and NOT a lightgun game.

In other words, you only looked at one side of the story, the negative one. The one with no facts to back it up. This is one of the most intriguing games I've seen in damn long time. Sure, you have to take stuff like this with a grain of salt, but to completely ignore how amazing this is and just calling it BS is bullshit itself on a level I have trouble comprehending.

The game looks amazing. Period. There is not a reason in hell anyone should have a reason to question the graphics. If the Gamecube can pull off Resident Evil 4, the Revolution can pull off this. As for the controls, well, I don't think you should judge until you try it for yourself, but I also think it's stupid to think Ubisoft has Game Informer in their pocket and GI was lying when they talked about how great the game felt to play.
