FFVII Advent Children Leaked
FF7:AC Movie writes "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children has been leaked on the Internet early this morning by a pirate group from Hong Kong known as BiEN (which incidentally means good in French). The Square-Enix film was due to release in Japan on September 14th 2005 after numerous delays. As for the North American release date, it has been pushed back to a cloudy end of November."
It was inevitable, no one can escape this, especially after all the delays and false hope. It creates grudge from the fans.
But I'm sure most fans will also buy the DVD, if they find a mean of distribution for it...

Isn't linking directly to a pirated movie download a bit bald faced for a NEWS SOURCE?
DYWYPI?
Bien means "well"
Bon means "good"
Ah well... Anyway, this is nothing new. I saw the Family Guy movie months ago. In fact, when I went to the IMDB to post about it, I noticed an exchange to the effect of the following:
Guy 1: Teh Family Guy movie is teh awesomes!!
Guy 2: Stupid fanboy, the movie isn't out yet. Don't review something you haven't even SEEN!
Guy 3: Umm.. The movie's been out on the net for several weeks, and we've ALL already seen it. stfu
Hell, a friend of mine's office is running a massive DVD piracy ring with their fancy new DVD duplicating machine (officially used to make demo DVDs for clients).
I don't need slashdot to tell me $movie was released early: I just assume all movies are, and I'm most usually right.
Now, what to do about this is another matter entirely...

After watching Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within with total disappointment, I wonder if this next one is just more hype. Call me crazy but Hironobu Sakaguchi isn't known for variety. Expect the same party concept getting full power to save the universe from some evil being.
what's this, no bittorrent?? LINK ME!!!!

Once again, this site has done its part in the fight to save the Internet from the scourge of unauthorized downloading. Well done, brave
If the subtitles are anything like Episode III: The Backstroke of the West, I'm not so sure this is a good thing.
It says on the site that the subtitles are Japanese. So basically anyone that downloads this and doesn't know Japanese is going to have to wait a while to watch it.
For all the bashing that Final Fantasy: The spirits within has recieved you'd think that it was the worst movie ever created; which it wasn't.
The reality was that FF:TSW was actually a pretty good anime movie; had it had a more traditional animation style and not been named Final Fantasy it probably would be among the most well recieved Anime movies outside of Japan. In my opinion it has become the but of so many jokes because many videogame players (that don't watch anime) decided to see the movie expecting to see a bunch of cut-scenes from final fantasy 7 and what they really got was an original movie.
In many ways this is the mentality that is destroying videogames; people are not willing to accept a well crafted experiance unless it is the experiance that they personally wanted. People didn't want Super Mario Sunshine they wanted Super Mario 64 with prettier graphics; people didn't want The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker they wanted "super-cool 1337 'Mature' Zelda"; and so on and so forth. The thing that really annoys me about this is one minute these brain-dead slobs are complaining that games are getting boring and nothing new is getting developed and another minute they are bitching that a well crafted game was not developed exactly like the previous ones were.
In my opinion you can't have it both ways; either you accept the new ideas and directions that a movie or videogame developer decides to take their product or you accept that there will be no progress in the industry. Personally, I have no desire to play the same game over again anymore (nor do I want to see the same movie over again) so I tend to accept most new directions.
Well, I bet it'll take max two days for a fansub group to release subs. Especially if they have the Japanese subs, which will help tremendously. Shit, I could do it if I wasn't so lazy. The subtitles thing, it's really true. When I was in Japan, I often found it easier to watch for example a Korean movie with Japanese subs than to watch a Japanese movie without any subs.

All the reviews from hardcore FFVII+ fans that I have seen have praised the movie.
All the reviews from casual people or FFVI- fans have been less than glowing. The FFVI people not liking it for a variety of reasons, and the casual people not understanding anything (supposedly no backstory is presented) and seeing the movie as mostly convoluted nonsense.
I thought it was fan service, not much more.
Rent before you buy (for those that still rent and buy movies).
If you loved FFVII, then the movie is gonna be the greated damned thing you've seen since the game.
If you didn't love FFVII then you're either not gonna like it or outright hate it for a number of reasons.
If you never played FFVII, you're gonna think the movie is a total piece of crap since no amount of time spent on the backstory will be enough to explain it to moviegoers.
Overall, expect direct-to-DVD unless SE is willing to risk another FF:Spirits Within.
Get them here.
Wow, that was a lot faster than I thought... Just to update everyone, you can download an english subtitle file for the movie now (seperate download). Expect more and more fansubs over the next 2 weeks. The subtitle that comes with the movie is japanese, so that's kind of redundant.
