Microsoft Accuses European Union of Collusion
GarbagePailKid wrote to mention the news that Microsoft has filed a formal complaint alleging that the EU colluded with company rivals and hid critical documents during the EU regulation hearings. According to Microsoft: "While the documents provided do not include the direct correspondence between the commission and its technical experts, they show that the commission, the trustee, and Microsoft's adversaries were secretly collaborating throughout the fall of 2005 in a manner inconsistent with the commission's role as neutral regulator and the Trustee's role as independent monitor..."
I'd like for Microsoft to win this, be eligible to sue the EU for several billion dollars more than what the EU can get off Microsoft, and then all sides play by the rules for the rest of the debacle.
I'll subscribe to Slashdot when I see a month without a dupe, a typo, or an article the "editors" didn't read.
The EU has more evil in its little pinkie than all of Microsoft. Microsoft is annoying. The EU is scary.
This is all smoke an mirrors. EU is trying to prop up OSS and European businesses because they dont like the idea that an American Company is the only productive option. I say productive because there are competing products to each microsoft product. But only microsoft..and Apple products seem to result in a productive user. Yes yes before i get flamed, i know linux has its place. But honeslty i have only seen people be productive with Linux in delevoper and server applicaitons. Try and write a wordprocessing document, or do any spreadsheet work. you are flat hosed. Yes..WEbsurfing and email there are some nice solutions. not perfect but nice. Evolution, thunderbird, and firefox all are attractive. However, just try and do basic documentation and other office remedeal tasks linux and oss are just about worthless. I am just not a fan of the Open office suit. I rely heavily on Spreadsheet and wordprocessing applications and Open Office is an imature suit. It has come a long way since its 1.0 days but stil remains to be immature. And this long rant has led me to this point. The reason microsoft is at 90% market share in office and os markets is because of quality. Yes we laugh at blue screens of death and security woes but they amount to nuances. Its not how stable there products are. Its what you can do with them and yes features mater! When a OO advocate trys to convice me that i dont need all the features of MSOffice. Its the same as a carsales man trying to sell me a car with "i dont need a radio or airconditioning..i just need 4 wheels". There is plenty of competition, and choices. But microsoft products allow you to get the most done. As a result, well see a quick influx of alternatives but they will all die out because Microsoft continues to inovate..abiet at a slow pace. But they inovaten non the less. Now i will sit back and watch the flaming begin because i ...gasp... defended an evil american corporation Microsoft on slashdot...what the hell was i thinking.
