Microsoft Blogger Robert Scoble Goes to Google

Brian Puccio writes "Possibly as a result of their recent purchase by Chinese national interests, Robert Scoble, (in)famous Microsoft blogger and evangelist, has decided to go work for Google: 'I just got off the phone with Larry Page. He's offered me a job to run Google's PR department and I've decided to take him up on it. Why? Because I finally realized that Steve Gillmor is right. Microsoft Office is dead and I wanted to be at the company that is the future of everything... My first project will be to convert the Scoble Dashboard over to a Linux box.'"

    Who gave these people permission to invade Slashdot and block me and anyone else from accessing it? Get this pink ponies stuff off Slashdot!!!! It is blocking access to the website. I consider this hacking, and will complain to the FBI unless it is removed within 24 hours! First notice!

      The PONIES ARE PART OF GNU/LINUX!!!!! Slashdot.org or their hosting provider must have installed PonyPony2 on their server!!!

      I'm just wondering how it is that noone high up in the city does not see how ridiculous this is. Taylor professes to have 22 years experience with computers, but my question is, what kind of experience? Despite the fact that he had been helped all along the way far beyond the call of duty for an OS manufacturer (for a free one, at that), he still insisted that it was a mistake anyone could have made (I would like to amend that that "anyone" would have to be a real dolt...see MISTER Taylor), and he believes that his threats of calling the FBI were what prompted Hughes to "take him more seriously". Right. Hughes is a much nicer, more patient man than I. I would have simply laid out the facts once, and upon further harassment, I would have told him simply to refer to the first letter and take care of it himself. Those who ask for help like that deserve none.

    Oh yes, this and other websites remind me of why I do not go on the WWW on April Fool's Day. Year after year, fake news stories never get old, especially the news stories the following day declaring everything was a hoax... This story may or not be fake, I just had to post this somewhere...

      Slashdot is always like this. Instead of doing one, subtle april fool story, they post nothing but april fool stories. IMO, it is damn stupid, since almost noone reads slashdot that day anyhow.

      I think it'd be better to try to actually fool someone, with a story so subtle that it would look plauseable... None of the stories the last 24h looks remotely likely.

      An easy solution to the pink is to go grab the Slashdotter firefox extension. It allows you to change the scheme of every slashdot page. I never actually used that feature until they put up the pink theme and my eyes started to bleed. I'm using the Linux theme. Just a note, there is still a little bit of pink left on the site since I guess the extension doesn't change everything.

    How should we trust the information on the web? Specially the news, for example, if a person like Scobleizer announces something, it is picked up as the top headline by many news sites. I bet everybody will start to believe. If it is not April 1st, it would be a disaster. I don't think April 1st is not good for the internet. Futher, need to think about information trust to prevent disaster.
