Paul Allen's Microsoft Experience
theodp writes "Just in case Microsoft bashers don't have enough ammo, Robert X. Cringely has a couple of interesting tales in this week's column. The first explains how Bill Gates used Paul Allen's moonlighting at MITS to justify awarding himself 64% of Microsoft's stock vs. Allen's 36% (and Gates' failure to adjust the shares after he accepted a $10/hour part-time MITS job). The second heart-warming tale concerns a conversation Allen reportedly overheard late one night (as he was finishing up DOS 2.0) between Gates and Steve Ballmer discussing how to get Allen's Microsoft stock back if the Hodgkins disease Allen was battling killed him. Yikes."
Funny how we never hear people complain about all of those flamebait stories about how our grandparents are monkies and Genesis is false.
I found it quite interesting. Not surprising but interesting. I'm not sure why you would consider this flamebait. Unless you just happen to not like microsoft being shown in a bad light. Get used to it, they are evil.
The difference between Canada and the USA is that in Canada healthcare is a right and gun ownership is a privilege.
As usual the MS assmonkeys have jumped right in to defend their company before anyone can get a post in. How much does MS pay these people to defend the company line and troll on /.?
I would trust the opinion of an Anonymous Coward posting on slashdot over anything Cringely writes. Except for your comment, of course... heheh
No matter how much you have, you can always use a little more.
This article is just proof of how much you linux fags are desperate to bash microsoft. It's pathetic that you can't see that your little OS can't hold up on it's own so you have to bash such a contender. God forbid Gates looks out for what's in the interests of the company he built... fucking pathetic. Microsoft isn't going away and your attempt at FUD has only open my eyes more towards the linux lie.
Just like the political shit on slashdot, you can't get your way via facts so you'll do it through propaganda. If linux was so progressive we'd have articles marking advancements in linux beyond the small segments of corporations it has made it's way into. We'd see REAL tech articles but they're not there. Slashdot is a waste.
Melinda Gates is the driving force behind all that philanthropy. Before he married Melinda you would be hard pressed to get him to donate five bucks let alone millions to charity.
Jesus was a compassionate social conservative who called individuals to sin no more.
Case in point: I'm pretty disgusted that they've taken down so many "gay" tags already. Sure, they said they reserved the right to do this, but I'm disappointed by the lack of balls. Apparently our words aren't good enough for Slashdot, unless we're hidden away from the front page. So they can't stomach the true nature of their main source of content: the posters?
Note (I'm not a subsriber): I found the original use of the word gay in the tags juvenile myself. Then I got sick of the endless bitching, and started tagging it myself. (Then they started censoring and I revoked all of my contributions ever to the tag database)
Ever heard of a long term investment?
He gives money to countries on the condition that they make the govt, and basically everyone else use windows. Right now they are only patches of land with poor soil, with a few naked tribes running around starving. If they have some money maybe things will get better there, thats when m$/ the american govt will start exploiting them for cheap labour
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation does more harm than good. By preventing diseases and feeding people in the third world without doing something about the unstable birthrates, they are only guaranteeing that when the population exceeds the new (higher) carrying capacity, a larger population will suffer disease and starvation.
