I was confused by it. IE apparently is mentally challenged, but very busy. Safari is bored (maybe no one is using it?), and apparently Firefox is really just a reflection by 99% of its users (willing to complain about IE, but not willing to do anything of their own to fix the problem). Who wants a browser that sleeps all day and whines at IE?

A better take on the same idea would be to display all of the icons at the same time, IE can go "whee" but keeps running into stuff and getting disoriented and diseased and then dies. Safari can be bored if it wants to, and Firefox should look like it actually getting something done.

As far as being effective for general advertising, I'm not sure... It may succeed on the level of getting people talking about it, "Do you GET that new Firefox commercial", or not. It's a bit of a wink and a nod to the tech demographic (taunting especially Microsoft and Netscape).

If I were making a SAFE choice for mass consumption, I'd probably go with the "Give me the Soap". Simple, mass appeal, cute, cuddly, with a clearly stated message. If I had some extra money, I'd produce and run both. If I had money to burn, I'd definitely do the Wheeee! just for fun.

    Good job to all winners.

Not quite sure why "DareDevil" made it in there. Didn't really find it funny or informative, but it was well put together I guess. However, it did nothing to really promote firefox except for a very brief text message at the end. Again, well put together, but all but completely irrelevant to firefox.

"Give Me the Soap". Meh, mediocre. I guess it gets the job done and we all know that cute kids doing dumb things make up all chuckle slightly and say "ahhhhh", but just didn't seem to do anything for me...

"This is Hot" did a good job bringing out some of the plusses to firefox and didn't even need to resort to the bashing of other browsers! Kudos for that. Also, nicely animated. Very well put together piece. For those of you who claim that it doesn't make sense, how many commercials do you see on TV that make sense? Seriously, give it a break.

I think that the clear winner in my mind though is "Fox Fever". This puts together humor and information in one short and very well done piece of work. While not as funny as "Wheee!" it still provided me with a smile and a slight chuckle. More than I managed for pretty much everything but "Wheee!". Tacked onto that we had a commercial that points out the clean browsing that you get with firefox. Even the bashing of IE was done more of less tactfully.

OK, now that all that is out of the way, I would like to point out that I didn't see any of the other submissions. I only viewed the winners. Had I seen then, perhaps I would be more upset about who made the final cuts. Then again, I might like them all the more because the other attempts were far worse. Remember they were not aiming for a technical audience necessarily, so they picked the one they thought everyone could most relate to (in other words, instead of targeting one audience's 100% mark they figured they'd shoot for everyone's 30% mark, or whatever).
