Microsoft Sides With Nintendo Against Sony

rafemonkey writes "Looks like Microsoft loves the Wii. The Washington Post has an article in which VP Peter Moore says that since the PS3 is so expensive, gamers might as well get an Xbox 360 and a Wii for the cost of one Sony console." From the article: "Microsoft predicted on Tuesday it will have 10 million Xbox 360 consoles in the market before Sony launches the PS3. The high-end Xbox 360 sells for $399, but it does not include a built-in high-definition DVD video player that comes with Sony's PS3. Sony plans to sell a premium PS3 model for $599 when it debuts in North America on November 17, and Nintendo has not yet disclosed pricing for Wii." On that last note there is much speculation that Nintendo is aiming for a $249 price point. Sony's Kaz Hirai has in turn responded that the PlayStation 3 is priced for consumers, who are getting a lot for their money.

COOL! What games did you try it with? I've been watching Slashdot for ages for some hands-on reports with the PS3. Please tell us!

Uh, I guess the Washington Post can't even count. The stripped down 360 costs $399, the higher-end costs $499 and that's without the HD-DVD. Plus, Sony's online play is free, and MS charges $50 a year for theirs. In fact, the 360's real "high-end" bundle costs $599, remember? All Sony has to do is throw in a couple games and they'd have MS beat already.

That's exactly what a marketing company like Microsoft is good at. You'll notice that they'll keep their mouths shut about the PS3 having builtin HD DVD capabilities( currently costing $500 alone ) and the fact that the graphics system in the PS3, if purchased for a PC would also cost around $500 or there about....

I've already seen the press say there's a $200 difference between the XBox360 and the PS3. Their logic was that the lowend models should be compared and the high end models compared when in reality, the lowend PS3 has no comparison with the XBox360 and at best should be compared to the currently availble highend XBox360( 20GB HD ).

So, we all know Microsoft is an amazing marketing company and will lie, cheat, steal, and do whatever it takes to get the public to believe its rhetoric. They know darn well that comparing the PS3 to an XBox & Wii package will not mean people would purchase such a bundle and are only doing so to make the price point/differential seem cavernous. So much so that it would seem silly to consider spending so much money and instead should purchase a Microsoft XBox instead.

The truth is that the PS3 and all it has to offer is a quantum leap above the PS2 and such a huge leap above the XBox360 that all Microsoft can do is attempt to fool the public into a purchase now.

IMO, Sony needs to start touring the countries with PS3's showing off what it can do. The press would gobble this up and force Microsoft to pay even more to publish "news" about its next great money losing business, the XBox.

Because Wii graphics suck and you cant play Oblivion, Halo 3, GTA4 or UT 2007 on it?

    Gooodbye Karma!

Seriously guys, the Wii controller is great but you are totally overhyped about the console itself. The graphics and the gameplay they've shown so far is nothing you havent seen on gamecube already. Actually Mario Galaxy copied some effects from Psychonauts.

I think having a Wii and a Xbox 360 (for when you get tired of looking at last generation graphics) is really a Great idea.

(And if the games arent that expensive I dont see any trouble in doing so)
