IE7 Released and Available for Download
Luis Escalante writes "After over a year and a half, IE7 has been released to the public as of Monday afternoon. Download it directly here. Word hit the streets after several mangers of the IE division posted on the IE blog."
Hooray! Finally we have everything Firefox already has with only half the security!
That's right! We only want flame news about how IE sucks!
For some reason, my iMac will not install IE7... nor will my Ubuntu box... For most people, does IE7 really matter? For the techno-literati, IE 7 doesn't factor in, as it (obviously) isn't even a speck of cosmic dust in the Linux universe. For the Mac fanboy/fangirl crowd (of which I am one), Safari and Firefox work just fine. For the Windows crowd... well, power users (Paul Thurrott, system admins, and perhaps twenty sado-masochists who enjoy Windows) will notice the difference, but for most Windows users, the reaction will be, "Hmmm... the internet looks different. Neat. Okay, let me go check the scores on espn.com." What if someone held a browser war and no one showed?
Perhaps you shouldn't run as an administrator and blindly accept every ActiveX installation you're prompted with when visiting porn sites.
Look, there are mostly college kids here. Awkward, frustrated, virgins. And they're almost all secular Lefties. I.e godless. But man needs a god. So they make one up, based on the only thing they know or are anywhere near any good at: computers and software. So you get things like Linux/Firefox are good, Windows/IE are evil. Even bizarre things like Google and MS, both powerful bullying corporations, as one being good and one being evil. When you make up your own religion, anything goes! But most importantly, they're just kids. And they're going through a tough time in their lives. Well, actually, since they're losers, they'll always have a tough time, but that's not important right now. What's important to understand is, think about it this way: They're students. They're in school to learn stuff. That's because they don't know stuff. If they knew stuff, they wouldn't be there. So they should be cut some slack on that basis. When they grow up and enter the real world, and are still delusional about what's really important in life, then you can call them all stupid whiny little bitches. (Leave the gay references out.)
Warning:
Don't install unless you want your computer to be b0rked.
My desktops not starting up Windows now.
Only for javascript. And believe it or not, there is a whole helluva lot more to web dev than javascript. This isn't the 90's you know.
This is my sig. There are many like it but this one is mine.
And yet, Linux continues to be the same impossible-to-use monstrosity it has always been.
It is truly fascinating how the open source community can stand there like deer in the headlights congratulating themselves on how their most powerful competitor is learning so much from them. Microsoft is now creating open standards, open formats, even open source applications - not one hundred percent of the time, but hey, they're doing it! They're starting to look more and more like us.
Hey, wait a minute. Why don't we look more like Microsoft? Where's our readily accessible documentation localised in dozens of languages? Where's our toll-free licensing hotline? Where's our reliable and knowledgeable tech support team? Our software assurance subscription that actually sends a disc in the mail when there's an update?
You know what really bugs me? That last one. I used to pay $4.95 a month for a quarterly package of three major Linux distributions. I liked that. So how come now I only get that from Microsoft?
Honestly, people. Why is Microsoft getting so much better, while *we're* really starting to SUCK?
And on a more pressing note, just look how much closer those headlights are getting! So how many seconds to *SPLAT*?
Microsoft cheerleader, blue flag waving, you got a problem with that?
People still use IE?

Well, if you've got IE on it at all it's trash already.

Worse yet, they stupidly put it on the right side so you have to mouse further to get to it, as well as placing the stop and refresh buttons on the right side of the address bar.
Over on the right side - you mean just above the scrollbar, that a lot of users will be using to scroll with? Their mouse will already be on that side of the screen. In fact, with the lack of a menu bar, there's no reason to not be there, as there's little or nothing on the left of note.
have you seen Vista or Windows Live Messenger? Blech
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; I actually quite like them, although admittedly I've not spent a lot of time playing with Vista (couldn't get my wireless dongle working with Beta 2).
It's official. Most of you are morons.
Just dont use IE. Why are you crying baby.
Nothing has changed here since IE6, nor is this different than other browsers. Get a clue.
Fuck your Windoze, retard
Under Linux, people routinely upgrade Firefox [...] while the programs themselves are still running. Afterwards, they simply restart the program in question to run the new version.
Well I do that on Windows too, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the file system.
You should really try Windows sometime. Or get a clue.
Actually it's a perfect example as to why the many UNIX filesystems are broken. As mentioned many times updating a file in use means that existing programs continue to use the older loaded version of that file, complete with any security vulnerabilities. MS specifically designed the filesystem to not permit this as to not allow that to happen.
And who the Hell cares about a reboot? OS uptime is not important whatsoever, and if you're going to have to restart a daemon so an update actually takes effect then you are dropping the availability of the service anyway which is the only important factor. I'm sorry but my penis size is sufficient that I don't require inflated uptime values.
