Zune Not Compatible With Windows Vista

    Out of all of the people complaining that Vista "isn't out yet" ... this comment actually makes the most sense to explain the incompatibility. There have been what... 2, 3 more builds since RC1 that have been available for public download?

    That being said, it seems to be the actual Zune software that's not recognizing a supported OS - and not necessarily the OS allowing it to install. So the build of Vista may be irrelevant.

    The first thing the Zune installer does is check to see if there is updated Zune software available. It does this before it does the OS check, so the CD installer will work as soon as Vista-compatible software is released.

    The CD installer will work ONLY if one have a working internet connection.

    ... if Amarok and Rockbox will work with the brick before Vista does. Hell, that would make it useful. I know, few people would waste their money on something they have to reprogram to make useful ... outside M$ PCs that is. Just get a Zaurus it's got better battery life!

    I have the full Vista RTM (no key needed - you can bypass. You have 30 days to enter a key for the version you choose - and there is now an MSDN key available). iTunes 7.0.2 runs fine and iTunes has been running fine in Vista since 5456. It ran great in 5728, 5744, and 5840. Vista Rocks - I don't use DRM'd crap so all my video and music stuff works just Dandy. DVD Decrypter and AutoGK work just fine (oddly though you have to turn off UAC under msconfig for AutoGK to do its stuff). Appx. 90% of the stinking pile of FUD regarding Vista on Slashdot is well...a stinking pile of FUD. It rocks, end of story.
