  1. Re:Time to be parents again on US Students Suffering From Internet Addiction · · Score: 3, Insightful

The article is about college students though... people who are supposed to be responsible for themselves. And while I agree that the parents have a part in this in earlier years, once they're out on their own, there needs to be some self control involved.

I do find it amusing that they felt so disconnected from their friends, yet no one thought to place an actual phone call to try to meet up with their friends? No media, sure... but they could use a phone as a phone, no?

So now I have SRSLY b/c it is srsly retarded that I had to turn in the old plates.

Perhaps if they wanted to curb the resale of their devices, they should offer some sort of buy back program? They'll still turn around and sell them again and make a profit.

Exactly. It's just to get you in.

I saw one gamestop that went as far as to have the stupid refurbished Wii boxes on their counter. You know, the used ones they resell, like the PS2, xbox and other systems. They had a "used" Wii box with a price on it right next to the others. Don't recall the price, but I asked the guy if that was for real and he said no. I laughed and walked out of the store.

I hate that crap. I can almost understand the regular Wii boxes to get attention... but a box for a USED Wii is a bit much for traffic.

Ya, there's something like 10k+ on eBay right now. Average selling price for just the console is over $400 plus probably $30-$40 shipping.

I was hoping to find one or two to sell on eBay myself. But I have family and friends that I would find them for first since I know other people looking. I've been telling people to buy a bundle if they see one in a store - even the $700 Walmart bundle. At least that way they get some of the things they would buy eventually anyways and they're not paying any inflated prices.

As soon as I started Safari up, it prompted me for the credentials... I entered my domain\username and password and clicked OK - crash with a memory error immediately.

I also tried clicking Cancel on the proxy authentication window and got the same result.

Not going to knock the beta too much for that though given the circumstances... I'll be trying it at home minus any proxy later on. I'm hoping for better results.
