MacBook Air First To Be Compromised In Hacking Contest
Multiple readers have written to let us know that the MacBook Air was the first laptop to fall in the CanSecWest hacking contest. The successful hijacking took place only two minutes into the second day of the competition, after the rules had been relaxed to allow the visiting of websites and opening of emails. The TippingPoint blog reveals that the vulnerability was located within Safari, but they won't release specific details until Apple has had a chance to correct the problem. The winner, Charlie Miller, gets to keep the laptop and $10,000. We covered the contest last year, and the results were similar.
you know, these articles are extremely misleading. this, and others all over the web which are just like it, gives the immediate impression that all systems were being hacked at the same time and the Mac was the first to fall. most people don't bother reading the article so they won't see the fine print, which is that the Mac was the first to fall because it was the first to be tested!! in a similar outcome, my shower this morning apparently took less time than brushing my teeth, simply because i showered first. LAME.
Now I did not expect THAT from Apple fanbois/ap(p)ologists. Where are your bazookas and rocket-launchers? I am waiting with my BFG and you are not coming anymore? Not fair, not fair.
Owned indeed, but as a prize for the hack. Once again, the macbook air manages to get the attention making the other prizes nameless... Who wants to win a boring nameless computer... And with the downloaded filenames overflow recently introduced by "the lastest version of" Safari a couple of days ago it must have been a piece of cake.
Anyway, no one got interested in the rest and the guy went straight for the MBA...

You like the other crackintosh fans around here are fucking idiots. Ten-fucking-thousand dollars is a helluva lot more important to anyone with a fucking head than your prec(oc)ious little wafer thin computer. Apple got pwned. Twice in two years. It's not a positive thing. This wasn't a beauty contest. Catch a clue.

I think even the Apple fans on Slashdot find your fanboy rants stupid. Oops, forgot your site got banned from digg for gaming Digg with bots and trying to make money that way. Try getting in touch with the National Inquirer. They might want to publish your one sided bullshit articles. Also, are you trying to game Slashdot by using multiple accounts to mod yourself up like you did at Digg?
