Obama Would Redirect NASA Funding to Education
QuantumG writes "In a recent article on The Space Review, Greg Zsidisin reveals that Barack Obama plans to delay Project Constellation for at least five years, using the redirected funds to nationalize early-education for children under five years old to prepare them for the rigors of kindergarten and beyond, if he is elected president. It is feared that if this happens the Vision for Space Exploration will flounder and that may be the end of human spaceflight altogether."

"To pay for his education program, Obama would eliminate tax-deductibility of CEO pay by corporations and delay NASA's program to return to the moon and then journey to Mars."

This is insightful? If you reason like this, then you can't reason at all.
Dear me, I'm glad I'm not voting in your elections...
Obama will "Change" things by taking us backwards, not forwards. He's either childish or bent on destroying as much as he can of our technological lead (both in space and military technology), but you can't say he's bringing us "forward" in any respect.
Getting down to specifics about why this is fundamentally the dumbest thing I've heard in years.
- Has money ever been put into a social program "temporarily"? No. Once you set up the infrastructure for a new social program, and people get used to it, it becomes an entitlement. Expect any future president who would cancel that program and put money back into spaceflight of being raked over the coals for "depriving the children".
- In a 5 year technological period, when finely tuned facilities are allowed to rot, people move on to other careers, and manufacturing facilities for contractors, subcontractors, and government are shut down - does that ever get reactivated without billions lost, if at all? No.
Obama is a LAWYER, not an engineer, economist, or businessman. He has never done anything or worked in any field where fact and consequences mattered more than opinion and persuasion. He largely builds an emotional bubble that people force their own thoughts into on what an Obama administration would be like. When a few policy statements or political opinions actually leak out of that extreme-left bubble, they are generally horrifying to anyone who actually does the math.
What Constitutional issues? The ones you conjure up after a cursory glance and an internet rant don't count. Seriously. I don't mean to be combative. I'm all ears.
The sky is falling! The sky is falling!
Dude listen to what his pastor and his personal hero preached from the pulpit.
If you don't think it was racist just what do you think it is?
