McCain Picks Gov. Palin As Running Mate

Many readers have written to tell us about McCain's choice of Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin as his VP choice. "Palin, 44, a self-described 'hockey mom,' is a conservative first-term governor of Alaska with strong anti-abortion views, a record of reform and fiscal conservatism and an outsider's perspective on Washington. [...] If elected, Palin would be the first woman US vice president, adding another historic element to a presidential race that has been filled with firsts. Obama, 47, is the first black nominee of a major US political party. The choice of a vice president rarely has a major impact on the presidential race. Palin will meet Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, in a debate in October."

Trickle down economy really works. Just look at the monsoons its causing in places like India and China! Now if they could just be redirected to places closer to home. The general idea behind trickle down is to increase investment, but the investment needs to be in the US for it to help low end of the US economy. This is why so many encourage people to shop locally as much as possible. Of course it helps to shop with the local business person who buys from local producers and banks locally. This allows money to trickle up and down in the local economy. So one might say that an across the board tax cut is even better as it allows for increased trickle up as well as increased trickle down movement.

Everything from outside suppliers to Federal taxes causes a drain on the local economy, reducing the Federal tax returns money to the local economy and when done involves the economic multiplier effect and thus improves the trickle down rate especially if the money formally spent on taxes is invested locally thereby increasing employment and thereby local income. That is where Kennedy's advisors decided that reducing taxes actually increased Federal revenue because there would be more people working for more total income and though paying taxes at a lower rate it would improve overall revenues due to being assessed on a larger income base. This worked to set up the Federal government for the first surplus revenue since before the depression, however LBJ proceeded to set up the welfare state and dropping money in the extreme tonnage on Vietnam as well as increasing taxes. Kennedy's funding of NASA for the trip to the moon would have been easily paid for and more by Kennedy's tax reductions.

A conspiracy theorist could easily put together the idea that many of the tax breaks and investment incentives, not to mention an assortment of other changes are intended to weaken unions, reduce education levels and otherwise weaken the US middle class. If the theorist adds in things like the housing crisis, healthcare crisis, the numbers of citizens becoming convicted felons due to laws of dubious purpose and origin including the war on drugs and the increasingly insecure and potentially controlled voting process and they could make a pretty gripping story. Toss in laws protecting bad business models for good measure.

Far more tax is involved in the price of everything we buy then most anyone will ever realize. On its journey from raw materials to finished product, to the store and then to the consumer an item is taxed every step of the way and multiple times over as you add in other components, labor, energy, storage, etc. It would be hard to even calculate the total tax involved in this process per item, but if you could add it all up and remove half of it from the total cost then how many more could be sold/purchased while increasing the profits every step in the process? That could be one huge trickle effect going in every direction while limited by the relative propensity to consume.

one of the foremost is to instill in girls the self-esteem that can help in postponing sexual activity.

Why? Are you of the persuasion that "sex is bad"?
If yes, ur doin it wrong.
A girl (or boy) past puberty is sexually mature, and not having sex at that age is unnatural. It's just some weird religious "morals" that make sex bad. Like horrible (abstinence based) sex ed, horrible parental guidance, lack of information due to a prudish society, etc. As usual, the US are a couple of centuries behind the times, and other more enlightened societies are way past that stage (or have never gotten there in the first place.)
