Sony Teases 3D Playstation 3

Ars Technica has a brief report from CES, where Sony demonstrated the work they've done to bring 3D technology to the PS3. Quoting: "The idea was just to show the technology to people, to see if they would be interested in sitting at home, wearing a dorky set of black glasses, watching content in 3D. I couldn't pry details about how the 3D affect was achieved, or if the display could turn any source into 3D, but what's clear is that, glasses or no, the 3D affect is amazing. Sony showed off Wipeout HD running in true 3D, and I was ready to whip out my credit card right there. Frank and I both agreed, this was one of the best demos of 3D technology we have ever seen."

I can't believe how amazing Sony has been doing. Just got myself a PS3 and PSP a few weeks ago and absolutely blown away by the combo. Hooked up to a nice big 1080p LCD with a brand new sound system. In all my many years as a console gamer I've never seen a console that is so completely and utterly graphically dominant like the PS3 is. And I signed up for a Netflix account and have been watching a ton of BluRay movies. Once you go 1080p and lossless audio there is no going back to crappy DVDs ever again. And the PS3's DLNA capabilities hooked up to pulling shows off my DVR and streaming over WiFi to my PSP to anywhere in the house or outside is insanely cool. Kicking back out by the pool with a pair of head phones and my PSP watching TV shows being streamed from my PS3 inside is awesome. And of course the other big news blowing everyone away with the amazing things companies like EA are doing with Home make it staggering to think how incredible Home will be a year from now if it already is this good. Sitting around with some friends talking with them about my new setup I was saying how I couldn't really imagine how a PS3+PSP+1080p TV+7.1 audio+BluRay movies could be any better. And now this incredible 3D tech. Way to go Sony!

the first link shows a pointless chart.. i do not belive that only 5% of homes in the US have a DVD player while 7% have a blueray player..

if you are to compare the uptake from VHS->DVD to the uptake of DVD->BluRay it needs to be % of population over the relevent uptake times.. aka from release of the first player to the market on via time.

    My god what a idiot.

Honestly sell your fucking PS3. You won't be missed. Sony has a first party developer lineup that is utterly destroying Microsoft.

Sony has 20+ first party dev studios.
Microsoft only has 3, maybe 4, they are closing them down at such a rate it is hard to keep track.

What is even more pathetic is virtually every 360 'exclusive' has or will have better PC versions. And Microsoft first party exclusive developers have sucked so badly that Microsoft is still after three years having to rely on a goddam crappy crossplatform engine from Epic as the 'amazing' graphical game.

"it's mostly ports of games that end up looking and playing better on the cheaper Xbox 360"

Someone needs to bitchslap your pathetic little fanboy ass.
