$2 Billion For Broadband Cut From Stimulus Bill
pdabbadabba points out a CNN report on changes to the planned economic stimulus bill (the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 [PDF]) that will remove the $2 billion allocated to broadband development. The changes also eliminated smaller amounts allocated to NASA, the National Institute for Standards and Technology, and the National Science Foundation. $16 billion in school construction funding was removed, as well as another $3.5 billion for higher education construction. A variety of environmental projects were also cut or reduced (half of the $7 billion set aside for energy-efficient federal buildings, half of the $600 million for hybrid federal vehicles), and over $8 billion in health-related provisions are gone. The bill will likely go to vote in the Senate on Tuesday.
Hopefully, this bill will pass and Obama will shut the f__ up about 'OMG we are all going to DIE!!'.
Paulson started this because Goldman was about to go down and Obama and other continue this bs.
I just read another comment from you.
Still sore about getting that Republican ass raped last election eh? You've witnessed the destruction of your party. I imagine that smarts a bit.
Obama, is that you?
Don't rush me, Sonny. You rush a miracle man, you get rotten miracles.
Everybody repeat this to yourself a thousand times or until you get it.
The Federal government has NO business in education at ANY level. It's simply NOT one of the things allowed to them in the Constitution. Education is supposed to be solely a state and local concern.
Want to improve education? Return the responsibility and control to the states, kill the teachers' union, put corporal punishment back in the classrooms, and pay the good teachers more.
Lol, racist much? The US was built on immigrants, with people like you bellowing and moaning every step of the way, until history moved on and forced you to find a new group to hate on. You have Irish ancestry? In the civil war era they were the "dirty Irish" who were coming here to "steal good americans jobs". Same thing with Chinese immigrants, Japanese immigrants, Polish immigrants, German immigrants, and just about every other people that make up the majority of Americans today.
Second of all, the immigrants only make up, say, 20% of the population. Most of them actually pay taxes, believe it or not, but even none of them paid, the fact is that 20% is nothing. Do you think if we gave 20% more money to schools, that suddenly education would be fixed and everything would be great? Of course not.
Care to show us where investment by the federal government has created long term jobs? You made the claim, you better have the balls to back it up.
And I, for one, and glad that we see all thet pork in this bill. Obama promised us that there wouldn't be any pork and yet what do we see? The man has proven yet again that he's just more of the same.
Bull, Tax cuts do nothing to stimulate the economy. The rich don't need 'em and the poor need a lot more than $20 extra per month. At best that extra money goes into paying down massive personal debt.
The Republican mantra of tax cuts all the time was completely repudiated by the people. The fact that they don't recognize this is why thery're going to be in the wilderness for a very long time. Trickle down failed and Reagan was the worst U.S. president ever.
The Republican party needs a reboot. We need a healthy Republican party to be the best country we can be. I welcome a strong Republican party. This one ain't it.
