Ant Mega-Colony Covers the World
Deag writes "A mega colony of one family of ants has spread all over the world. Previous mega colonies in California, Europe and Japan have been shown to be in fact one global colony.
Ants from the smaller super-colonies were always aggressive to one another. So ants from the west coast of Japan fought their rivals from Kobe, while ants from the European super-colony didn't get on with those from the Iberian colony.
But whenever ants from the main European and Californian super-colonies and those from the largest colony in Japan came into contact, they acted as if they were old friends."
What I want to know - are scientists getting paid to do this sort of stuff? Have they run out of diseases to investigate, plagues to cure?

Also obligatory: "Off-topic" mod.
And another "Flamebait" for moi!
...PETA, similar groups, and ultra-left idiots who voted for obama the socialist banker's puppet toy, there's not a damn thing we can do about this without upsetting tons of people who think that ants should have equal rights as humans despite humans being the only species in the entire history of the universe to possess any real intelligence, rational decision making, and cognitive abilities.
We have the right and responsibility to rid the world of anything deemed dangerous to our future existence by any means necessary and technology is the only pure chance we have of doing that, not listening to rhetoric and political pandering that gets us nowhere and dumbifies us further into believing in ludicrous profiteering bullshit such as man-made global warming by using the power of guilt against us.
