Bin Laden's Death Being Used To Spread Malware
wiredmikey writes "Following the successful operation by US forces to kill Osama bin Laden, Internet users are searching in the masses for any details about the incident they can find. Cyber-criminals know this and have already been at work to 'poison' common search results hoping to gain access to people's computers and infect them with malware."
Death.

BUy hErB@l \/1aGaRa t0DaY!!!
So far all the posts, including mine, are really spammy. I think that tells us just how much anybody really cares that the US finally caught their scapegoat for all the world's ills.
So Afghanistan was a complete waste of time, then, since (supposedly) they were only there looking for him.

Was searching for Bin Laden news, found a program called "Fox Tab" in the search results, and discovered this PDF creation tool was actually a trojan.
Dang.
(thought "open source" was supposed to be safe, but I guess not.)
My AC stalker: " I personally agree with your posts most of the time, but that won't keep me from modding you troll"
They do these with every major event, are we going to get an article each time it happens?
Everything is used to spread malware. So Osama rates up there with child porn, penis enlargment, hair loss, belly fat, viagra, cheap drugs, and people wishing to deposit millions of dollars into your bank account?
Elton John is already recording a tribute - "Sandals in the Bin"
If you're not confused, you're not paying attention
besides the weather, of course. with all the positively life extending plans to joyfully disarm ourselves & our 'partners' afoot, that takes care of that. see you at the million babys+ play-dates etc...
The editors start a new thread to get rid of the trolls & you kill it with fp :(
Kool and the Gang has made a big comeback.
For justice, we must go to Don Corleone
Yep, this is definitely shaping up to be my article, isn't it? I've burned LOADS of Karma, and it was worth every -1 Troll, -1 Offtopic, etc.

I swear I read this same article every time: "[Insert world event here] being used to spread malware"
continues to terrorize us...
CHRISTIANABAD, Pakistan, Monday (NTN) — President Barack Obama has announced that the hydra has been conclusively beheaded by US forces in Pakistan.
Mr Obama said it was "the most significant achievement to date in our nation's effort to defeat the hydra. We can all rest safe now."
A US official said the hydra's head had been buried at sea, to prevent the grave becoming a shrine. "But trust us — we got the actual hydra, all right. You know how good we are with getting this stuff right."
World leaders expressed their relief at the hydra having been utterly and completely stopped by cutting its main head off, except those party poopers at Hamas who dared suggest there were people who might be annoyed.
For many, the bigger question is whether, in the longer run, the hydra's organisation can survive. "The absolutely final and complete really truly killing of the hydra puts the group on a path of decline that will be difficult to reverse," said the President.
"I suddenly feel much better about America and no longer have any thoughts of revenge whatsoever," said one Afghan teenager whose entire family had been killed as collateral damage by a US bomb. "U-S-A! U-S-A! Coca-Cola! Fox News!"
US citizens are encouraged to apply to hold official celebratory street parties, under the close supervision of the Department of Homeland Security and the Transport Safety Administration, so that their freedoms may stay protected.
"Mission accomplished!" said Accounts Receivable at Halliburton.

That didn't take long at all!
I'm ugly, I'm wierd, and I post crap
+1 informative.
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage? - Pink Floyd.
I could see this coming, they love to take advantage of anything thats big in the news..
Tradition is a powerful thing.
Have gnu, will travel.
Bin Laden wouldn't have said anything, he was a tough nut to crack.
Talking to the guy would have invited negotiation with him. Then millions in court costs as he's stuck in a jail somewhere. Following that would be the attempts at freeing him.
Fuck him, he's gone and the world's a better place.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Trolling is a art,
...we can't have nice things.
After I heard the news on the radio on the drive into work. I was expecting some SPAM dealing with this. Whether it be a chain letter or links to bogus sites with promises of the picture. Guess I'm more of a realist than a cynic.
...who can't WAIT to see and celebrate the DEAD GUY.
God's justice be done!
Let us at least agree that Osama died as he lived: violently and without mercy.
Score: +4 (troll) was the most amusing. Still got karma to burn. Wish I knew who went after me, though. Revenge is sweet (unless your name is Osama).
On a hacked picture of Princess Diana, no less. http://www.technologyreview.com/computing/37491/
So even in death, Osama bin Laden is hacking our computers.
Wait, that's not right...
Nothing but low-down, double-dealing, backstabbing, larcenous perverted worms! Hanging's too good for em. Burning's too good for em! They should be torn into little bitsy pieces and buried alive!
if a major news event wasn't used to spread malware

Hmmm that sure does look like a photoshop.
He's probably been dead for years anyway....
Bin Laden causes turmoil for the public!!!
Guess maybe you don't really die once you hit celebrity status.
Or is that if you get digitized on the interwebs?
Dang it, TSA better start groping my email for terrorist, or something.
Be seeing you...
Ben Laden was malware. He has been fixed.
My colleague is an internet marketer. After hearing about Osama's death, he quickly made an 'Osama Bin Laden is dead' fan page and monetized off of it. Bought a domain relating to the page and then setup a CPA (cost per action) advertisement, one of those content blocker things. Him and I also did the same following Michael Jackon's death. He has made quite a living off of it, just by spamming social networking sites and users are duped by their own stupidity.
I can see numerous reasons not to post the photos, at least not immediately:
Add all these up, and there's no reasonable doubt - they got bin Laden on May 1st.
