California Declares Today "Steve Jobs Day"
First time accepted submitter onezeta writes "California Gov. Jerry Brown, in an announcement via a Twitter post, has declared it 'Steve Jobs Day.' The Apple co-founder's life as a technology trailblazer will be marked Sunday by his company's home state at a private memorial service and in a television documentary airing tonight at 8 pm EST on Discovery."

The guy sold portable music players and mobile phones to people. Why do those people have such an emotional attachment to the man?

Seriously, he was just a man. Sure, a stylish dresser and a very capable peddler of mediocre products that purchasers never truly owned, but still just a man.
It's getting really old that people feel the need to constantly bring up Dennis Ritchie only because he died around the same time as Steve Jobs. No one gave a fuck about him and, despite this being a geek site, he was hardly mentioned here. He dies shortly after a world famous person and now everyone acts like they're Dennis Ritchie's personal fucking ambassador.
In fact this submission already has more comments than the one for Dennis when he received an award in Japan earlier.
Go get fucking laid instead of always trying to find something to get angry and bitch about.
