Steve Jobs Joins House of Wax

Hugh Pickens writes writes "The LA Times reports that Steve Jobs is about to join Barack Obama, Jackie Chan, Nicole Kidman, and Mozart at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, the tourist attraction famous for creating hauntingly lifelike sculptures of famous people. The model of Jobs, to be unveiled to mark the first anniversary of Jobs' death, is based on pictures taken of the tech innovator during a 2006 Fortune magazine shoot and shows the Apple Inc. cofounder in a relaxed position, arms crossed loosely over his chest, with a pair of silver-rimmed Lunor glasses perched on his face and wearing a black cotton turtle neck, Levi 501 jeans and New Balance trainers. The company says a team of artists spent three months working on the wax figure, inserting each strand of hair one by one into the wax head using a forked needle, and using fine silk threads to recreate the subtle veining in the whites of his eyes. The figure will remain at the Historical and National Heroes attraction of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong through November 26, before travelling on to Madame Tussauds Bangkok and then Madame Tussauds Shanghai."

I'm usually don't like art but this time I have to give credit. That wax figure is simply amazing, I've seen other ones but I think this is the best wax figure ever.

Why is it so lifelike? It's the real Steve Jobs.

Seriously, Madame Tussauds was so worried that Apple would file a "Look and Feel" lawsuit that they decided it was safest to use Steve Jobs' corpse rather than wax lookalike.

When viewing the art, you should still keep your hands on your wallet.

Also, this version of Jobs works great with your current eyes. However, they will be upgrading it next year, forcing you to to use smaller, more symmetric eyes. You can buy a special pair of adapter glasses for $30.

No, given Steve's legendary temper tantrums, posing him with an angry face and getting ready to stomp on a Galaxy S3 would be more in character. I am a minimalist myself and I admire the guy's eye for design and his nose for market opportunities but he definitely had anger management issues and he seems to have been a champion grudge holder. A thousand years ago these qualities would have made him a fine Viking beserker warlord, today they make you a top CEO...

yeah whatever. Whats important is if they used rounded corners in their design, they are soooo screwed.

Also, did you know the figurine was animated, but the battery inside wore down and they don't design those things to be opened up and have their batteries replaced, so..
