.xxx Registrar To Launch Pr0n Search Engine

angry tapir writes "The company behind the .xxx top-level domain plans to launch a search engine in an effort to drive more traffic to .xxx websites and give pornography fans a more satisfying search experience. ICM Registry, which operates the 9-month-old .xxx TLD, is scheduled to launch Search.xxx this week, said Stuart Lawley, ICM's CEO. The new search engine will give users a more streamlined searching process, help protect them from viruses and malware and help guard their privacy, he said. The search engine has cataloged 21 million webpages from .xxx sites, he said. 'It's porn, only porn, all porn,' he said. 'There's as much porn there as anyone would need, I'd imagine.'"

The entire premise is stupid. There is no such as "too much porn" because people have different interests. While you can pretty much find anything - and if you can't, there's people who do clips when you order from them - some niches can still be quite small. And let me tell you, people love their niches. For example I like japanese massage porn. If that's what turns me on, then hairy grandmas 58 isn't going to help much.

You sir have grossly underestimated the Internet porn surfing public. Additionally, if this TLD gets really big and makes good on it's promise, I'm upping the ante to a six monitor configuration as opposed to the current two.

Hmm, I wonder. You see, the porn industry has been complaining for a long time about hard times (yes, I know, a pun of sorts, but not intended). I think the truth of the matter is that pornography only really attracts those who have been unable to find anything better in their lives, which is really sad. Pornography seems always to be disappointing - plasticky looking Ken and Barbie types mechanically doing things and looking utterly bored. I am, by the way, from Denmark, where people are incredibly open-minded and at it all the time, everywhere, as we all know, so I know what I am talking about.

Sex is nice, but vastly overhyped. Like anything enjoyable, it becomes trivial when you have had enough, and that happens much sooner than you imagine as a teenager; and it's a good thing really, because there is so much more to life than screwing around.

    From Wikipedia

Pr0n is slang for pornography.[1] This is a deliberately inaccurate spelling/pronunciation for porn,[14] where a zero is often used to replace the letter O. It is sometimes used in legitimate communications (such as email discussion groups, Usenet, chat rooms, and internet web pages) to circumvent language and content filters, which may reject messages as offensive or spam. The word also helps prevent search engines from associating commercial sites with pornography, which might result in unwelcome traffic.
