Fairy Penguins Send First Email

An anonymous reader writes "Australian researchers have successfully connected a Tasmanian colony of fairy penguins to the internet. The research effort was part of the Interspecies Internet initiative, promoted by Google's chief internet evangelist Vint Cerf and former Genesis lead singer Peter Gabriel in a TED talk earlier this year."

      no, reddit is like this everyday and follows with a dipping IQ. I see reddit as the idiocracy of the Internet.

    I actually enjoy Slashdot taking a day of the year out to just be silly. In past years some of the jokes have been hysterical. I enjoyed the "achievements" thing. The rot13 though is just irritating. So much fun having to paste all the summaries into my terminal so I can read them; I just love obvious repetitive tasks.

    It's not an April's fool joke if you can tell by looking at it for 2 microseconds.

    April 1st is just the day when Slashdot is utterly useless. Every Single One of the news stories is a ridiculously badly camouflaged "joke".

    Too bad, 'cause I'm in bed with a flu. Oh well...
