Authorities Reportedly Question McAfee's Ex-girlfriend (networkworld.com)

netbuzz writes: While antivirus software pioneer John McAfee is in the media spotlight for his long-shot Libertarian presidential run, law enforcement authorities in Belize and the FBI have just this week reportedly questioned one of his ex-girlfriends as they continue to investigate the 2012 murder of McAfee's American neighbor. That probe prompted McAfee to flee Belize and eventually land back in the United States. McAfee has steadfastly denied any involvement in the murder.

Looks like someone's stirring the pot. I don't know who, but it looks like John really pissed someone off. But, until there's formal action, it's just blowing smoke up peoples asses. Trial by media, OMG what about the children??

Police have been tight-lipped about Emshwillerâ(TM)s detention and it is not known what specifically she is being questioned about. But it is known that she was one of McAfeeâ(TM)s girlfriend at the time. http://edition.channel5belize....

One one hand, in a Sanders/Trump race, McAfee might get some votes, which the one-party/two-styles government cannot allow.

On the other hand, rumor is he was pretty close to perfecting a "love potion" using real neuropharmaceutical science and had some 200 women from the town at his compound, so he had to be run out. So, count all those furious husbands among those who wish him a slow death.

I'm sure he's pissed a LOT of people off, but most of them probably aren't relevant to this discussion. The timing of this suggests that the real question is: "Who has he pissed off that thinks he might really have a legitimate chance at a bid for the U.S. presidency, and why do they think he has such a good chance they need to resort to this now since it will clearly have the side-effect of giving him more publicity."

I'm ... blinking twice as I'm re-reading this and actually realizing the person who stands to gain the most from dusting off this tired, dead horse is McAffee himself....

Are you guys new around here? That's ancient copypasta. Yesterday, we had someone asking who/what GNAA is. The little green Jedi from the film has a whole bunch of copypasta material. I have to say this carefully or the filter will not let it pass. They have a bunch of them specifically for the purpose of explaining the method(s) and value(s) to be had with the placement of the figuring into one's rectum.

One of them, my personal favorite, actually has links to get a variety of paraphernalia that is decorated with the images of said figurine. They include links to the products to buy them, links to pictures (like of a wastebasket - in which to defecate before putting the figuring into your rectum), and all sorts of things. How are you even here if you aren't familiar with them? Seriously...

They're the "green Jedi figurine" posts. They're important business! I seriously think there should be mandatory education on this sort of thing. If we're going to teach CS in schools (and not just how to use Office) then they should have a good portion of that course on the culture that is the 'net. Trolls, Yoda, GNAA, and more - they belong on that list. They're a part of history. They're a part of what is the 'net and why the 'net is what it is. Someone, for better or worse, puts some serious dedication into their work.

Part of the problem is that we've reduced the meaning of the word "troll" to be anything we don't like and so we don't actually note that the word is diluted and used to (often) indicate some really creative and clever content. Some call it vandalism, I call it art. I'm not positive but I think I've seen and read all of 'em. Somewhere around the 'net or at least back home on a hard drive is a whole "special" Linux version. I knew what it did before I downloaded it but I downloaded it and archived it anyhow. The preservation of history is important.

Is there a number that I should call to arrange that?

That it happened in Belize is actually rather telling, and if you had spent any long time between, say, Mexico and Panama, you might have a different perspective on this. Government power is one or more of [a] arbitrary, [b] weak, and [c] for purchase. The drug trade supports healthy levels of gang activity all along the coast, and Belize is no exception -- far from it. I cannot begin to describe to you the level of corruption that exists in these countries, but suffice to say that the local criminal element is frequently stronger than the government.

It's pretty rare for an argument with a neighbor to result in murder. Arguments with drug lords, on the other hand...
