Another way to look at it is that the position is an excellent opportunity, especially for someone who is involved with Open Source ecosystem studies or something similar. Imagine having the position of DPL on your résumé (CV)!
You just described something not unique to Debian, but related to any complex technology in any field. If you read a study about genetic research and want to know more about it and start pursuing things, you will find a lot of 'rabbit holes' related to many no doubt extremely complex topics that all related in one way or another to the subject matter. If you start working with a modern web framework technology and haven't studied computer science formally and especially a lot of newer developments, you will find a ton of 'rabbit holes' because there are all kinds of components, tools, modules, etc. being used, all depending on other tool, components, etc. Even for someone who has studied computer science formally, studying a new technology can be daunting because we live in a world that is increasingly very complex and very specialized. People devote their entire careers to very specialized areas that are difficult to even describe to most people. I think this is all just a part of the way things are in the world and they are only going to continue to increase in complexity. That said, I don't think the Debian packaging system is particularly complex. It is actually extremely well-designed and robust and there is continuous development going on.
True, and contrary to quite a few other posts here, there is a lot of activity and updating/modernization going on. For example: Debian Continuous Integration which is only a few years old.
I think the disgruntled maintainer should consider running for the Debian Project Leader position which is open right now and advocate for changes he wants.
What? Elect public officials with technical competence and aptitude over idiot dumbasses whose only major skill is to run a successful mass-marketing campaign?
The level of technological and scientific incompetence in public officials up to and including high offices is frankly embarrassing and at the same time catastrophic in terms of actual consequences.
In an area where probably 1/3 of the residents are illegal aliens, how is this not discussed as being a factor?
In addition, there is out-of-control chain migration. Chain migration is a policy that needs to end. It's completely unsustainable.
Large parts of the United States no longer feel like America. No one voted for this. This has gone well beyond some open-minded desire for multiculturalism to levels of extreme masochism.
The world is not perfect. The United States is *far* from perfect and getting worse in many ways. But none of this excuses China from egregious rights violations so yes, there absolutely is an ethical responsibility to avoid purchasing products made in China, just as there is with Israel.
This should not be viewed as a failure, but as a great achievement. Correctly designed and functioning safety systems and protocols saved human life. This is infinitely more important than any space mission.
The whole point is that it piggybacks off of your existing plan. Why would you want to pay for a second plan, not to mention deal with the hassle/overhead of maintaining a second number?
This is a great idea for people into fitness. I hope other carriers will offer this service and that there will be other, less expensive models available.
What do you recommend to do without Live Bookmarks? I'm so used to having all my Live Bookmarks in my bookmarks bar and checking all the feeds when I want to read the news. It's so efficient and convenient. I've tried other RSS readers and honestly they don't come close in terms of efficiency and convenience.
They need to purge all the forum, help, blog, bug, etc. posts related to pre-v.57 as well. Can't count how many times I searched for some info only to find it was about the pre v.57 version so it was completely irrelevant. Out-of-date/inaccurate information is worse than no information at all.
Yes E-Verify should have been made mandatory a long time ago. Ever since I was a kid and had my first job delivering newspapers I was required to fill out an I-9 form with all my employers. Back then it actually meant something. Today it's a joke - it's actually like an insult to American citizens - given the blatant fraud that occurs and the open support for illegals among politicians whose level of betrayal of American citizens amounts to treason.
Having a foundation would be a great idea. But, on the other side, there has been no better time than the present to be a Linux desktop user.
$ sudo apt install kde-standard
$ sudo apt install lxqt

Maybe this is an opportunity for computer science students who want to learn more about the Linux kernel see see its inner workings.
Is that why California ranks almost dead-bottom for education and bottom for poverty level?

Wait for them to show up on eBay for $10.99.
It will happen.
This whole thing breathes new life into the question "What's the frequency, Kenneth?".
So is this the impact that caused the Caroline Bays?
That's ok. The only free music archive I need is the IMSLP :-)
So, sadly, I"M guessing IBM will acquire and fuck up RHEL
I think the more accurate term is 'ramp up' not 'fuck up' - more and more Open Source is about vendor on-ramps.
I think Radionomy should have open sourced Winamp after acquiring it. I really have no interest in it or them anymore.
I think MediaMonkey is the best music player by far.

If they kill of Live Bookmarks I will die.

Good point and still you were downvoted.
I *want* illegals to be reported and kicked out of the country and the news that any companies are helping out in this regard pleases me.
Glad to know that they're helping out ICE. Don't want illegals in the malls not the country.
Funny /. is crapping its pants about this but then people use Facebook every day and all the oniine tracking companies do far more tracking.
Wait until a link is found between MS-13 or cartels and people doing these kinds of acts and then there will be reason enough to declare martial law.
So who gives a shit what their work e-mail address is? Seriously?
