Keylogger Authors Manage To Infect Themselves 16 Different Times

An anonymous reader writes: Last summer someone created and dumped the source code of a keylogger called KeyBase. Since then, hackers have been churning out their own versions, but as you'd expect, skids would play with it too. Palo Alto researchers found the (unprotected) Web panels of some of these keyloggers, and discovered screenshots of the hackers' computers. Some of them even had dating pics.

    Wow. Apparently hacking and computer security skills don't go hand in hand. For amateurs, anyway. It's like comparing the Star Trek IV punk to a symphony orchestra, or teenage vandals to the Stainless Steel Rat.

      The keylogger had a builder where you only changed settings and automatically had your own keylogger version That's script kiddie level if I ever saw one

    What the hell is that even supposed to mean? A skid is that they call pallets at the warehouse. Lately it seems like Slash submissions are typed in by rabid monkeys.

      Thanks for clarifying... I was thinking it was a new shorthand for "skidmarks". Though I suppose hackers could be using that phrase too....

      It is looking at how spammers craft a campaign. I saw quite a few of the tactics i really do see at my company (on the receiving end of course). It is an interesting look at "a day in the life of scumbags"
