107 Games Revealed Ahead of HTC Vive Preorder Launch
SlappingOysters writes: Preorders open today for the HTC Vive virtual reality headset and while the device has been well-received by critics, little is known about the games coming to the device. We know that Job Simulator, Fantastic Contraption and Tilt Brush will be bundled in with the HTC Vive for those who preorder it, but Finder has discovered a further 104 games that have also been earmarked by their creators as coming to the device. For those considering a preorder, the site also provides a useful HTC Vive vs. Oculus Rift vs. PlayStation VR comparison table.
almost home... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvjRfVXQ0-8 cease fire,,, in the moms we trust
This list makes me want to wait. I will have to do more research, but I don't see anything really exciting here. This looks like the list of 300+ channels you get with a cheap dishTV subscription.
Why does anyone need VR? Oh yeah, they don't. Money saved!
Buddy! Where have you been? We have missed moo.
i.e., a few old Valve titles and a bunch of low-budget crapware?
SJW's don't eliminate discrimination. They just expropriate it for themselves.
Offtopic, I know. But has anyone gone to the length of comparing all those Moo postings?
Perhaps there is some variability (the count of 'O's or something like that) carrying some steganographic message (like "attack at 11" or what)?
Higher res displays may reduce eye strain but full blown motion sickness just gets worse the smoother and more natural the images look.
HMD's and Stereoscopic video have been commercially available for 15 years already, why does everyone think that it will magically catch on now?
"Operting System"
SteamVR is an Operating System?
I thought VR had a pretty good chance this time around when the Oculus first came out but now everyone and their mom's releasing a VR headset and it's gonna saturate what was probably gonna be a pretty small market to begin with. I hope i'm wrong but I imagine it'll pitter out after a couple years like the first VR headsets years ago.
As this HTC device has some sort of agreement with Valve - will it work with steam OS and/or linux?
Using 'SJW' unironically strikes me as similar to having a T-Shirt that says 'I'm a hateful prick".
Concur. The Moo postings are indeed one of the better quality postings on here.
That and the "apps" one can be pretty amusing at times.
Hateful pricks are still preferable to crybaby SJWs.
The OP didn't say anything about SJWs.

Modern app appers app using apps, not LUDDITE moos!

I see. How do you feel about people who unironically call you "self-righteous hypersensitive hypocritical crybaby busybodies?"
You noobs missed out on The Turd Report and The Gay Linux Conspiracy.
Honestly, that's not far off. There are some major games in there - more than you'd think - but also a bunch of minor games you've probably never heard of. And then there's a bunch of stuff that's in alpha/beta (i.e. Early Access) and will be for some time, but still gets on the list.
VR's a bit of a gold rush right now, so everyone is eager to claim their stake. The issue right now is that there's no issuing authority here, so anyone can claim their game supports VR, never mind how well or poor the implementation is, or if it even makes sense to support it in the first place. It might make the first year or so a bit painful.
Mind you, not that everyone thinks VR headsets sell well in total volume, but everyone wants to be the next Minecraft, or Super Mario Bros, or Doom, etc. If nothing else, early VR adopters have deep pockets, which is all the more reason to throw stuff out there and see if they bite.
Descent: Underground, Half-Life 2, and ... stuff. The rest of it wasn't all lame shovelware, there were a few other big names, but Descent (and to a lesser extent the ones listed as dogfight simulations) is the only one that I think will really benefit from a VR setup, and first person shooters should benefit in general if the depth illusion is implemented well.
He can put it next to your "Hypersensitive Pussy" t-shirt.
Create a virtual anime girlfriend sex game with various skins/models of popular anime characters over the last 20 years and sell it with that?
We only want this for anime porn right?
You have to understand, SJWs have a massive persecution complex. It's the reason they became SJWs in the first place, so that they can feed into that persecution complex. As such they have to bring up how oppressive everyone else is being to them on a constant basis. Which is ironic, because SJWs are almost exclusively upper middle class white men.
But anyway, there are probably some SJW favorites being made into VR games, since VR lends itself very well to the "walking simulator" style games that SJWs tend to promote. The anti-gamers among SJWs have been heavily promoting VR as some kind of "new way of experiencing games" so it's not surprising that SJWs would be showing up on a VR thread. I guess the idea is that you can "experience someone else's point of view." Which they'd need to do, given that most SJWs are, again, not the minorities they claim to be representing.
I found the list extremely disappointing as well. Most of these aren't even being called games on their own websites. Sword Art Online caught my attention, since I've heard of it to be an anime about an MMO, but it turned out to not be a game either.
The prevalence of shoveled-out indie stuff has a flipside, though. It's possible that the low barrier of entry in developing for VR will result in some interesting stuff that major companies would never take a chance on. Much like the indie scene of PC gaming, where there are some real treasures to be found (among piles of crap unfortunately).
Tilt Brush
That seems like a very weird game to publicize for virtual reality this early on.
Oh, Tilt Brush. Apparently I read it wrong the first time.
