James Damore Sues Google For Allegedly Discriminating Against Conservative White Men (theverge.com)

An anonymous reader shares a report: The author of the controversial memo that upended Google in August is suing the company, alleging that white, male conservatives are systematically discriminated against by Google. James Damore was fired as an engineer after a manifesto questioning the benefits of diversity programs was widely passed around the company. In a new lawsuit, he and another fired engineer claim that "employees who expressed views deviating from the majority view at Google on political subjects raised in the workplace and relevant to Google's employment policies and its business, such as 'diversity' hiring policies, 'bias sensitivity,' or 'social justice,' were/are singled out, mistreated, and systematically punished and terminated from Google, in violation of their legal rights."

I agree with President Trump who has committed multiple felonies in his treasonous collusion with Russia's attack on our country, yet walks free and is continuing his crime spree.

As he and Jeff Sessions continue the age of Jim Crow / Mass Incarceration of minorities we should all be saying "White people are the true victims of the racism that our society subjects minorities to."

So, Google has internal policies to, say, promote "diversity" and this a-hole doesn't like it, raises a big stink causing huge PR problems for Google just so he can claim his SJW cred and we're supposed to feel sorry for him? No. Any employees of mine who went around bad-mouthing my company would find themselves out of a job pretty god-damned quickly. And, NO - there is no law preventing an employer from firing someone for being an asshole.

I suspect you have the causal chain backwards.

The Republican Party's southern strategy consisted of embracing racism and bigotry in order to gain political power. The Democratic Party's position during this time was to *shed* its Dixiecrat racist wing by supporting civil rights.

Posit, for just one moment, that "protected class" actually exists for a non-partisan reason. I know, wild! Then you have one party which, since the 70s, has embraced racism and bigotry as a political strategy to gain votes. And another that has embraced civil rights and using the government to protect people from racism and bigotry.

Now, suppose you regulary experience racism and bigotry; might it change how you vote? The party that talks about neo-nazis as having good points and calls black people respectively protesting traitors? Or the one that, at least nominally, supports civil rights and is against racism and biotry and treats it as a real problem?

Let's see if the courts are as willing as social media platforms to allow racism and discrimination as long as it's against the "right" people.

Social media platforms are privately owned spaces. As such, they are allowed to discriminate against anyone for any reason. If you do not like how they discriminate then you can build your own platform and discriminate against people you don't like. Alternatively, you can discriminate against nobody and have an entire platform that is swamped by spammers, the most reviled and discriminated against class in existence.

It will be interesting to see what evidence he has for discrimination against white and male staff, or if he is claiming that it's only white&male&conservative in which case he has no case.

I suspect that it will be a short case. The plaintiff will claim that he was discriminated against by Google for being conservative, and they will roll out the HR termination paperwork documenting how he was abusing other employees because they weren't white. Google is going to fire anyone who is doing that, regardless of their color or gender because they will be sued by victims of said abuse if they don't. They have a really good motive to insure equality and a harassment workplace - mainly an army of drooling tort lawyers eyeing their bank account totals.

There probably are occasional (but rare) instances of straight white conservative men being discriminated against, but I don't think this is it. All this guy is going to do is insure that he never gets hired again, because what employer is going to hire someone with a history of suing their employers?
