Samsung Will Begin Offering Same-Day Repairs On Galaxy Phones This Week (bgr.com)
hyperclocker shares a report from BGR: Samsung announced on Wednesday that it is partnering with uBreakiFix to bring same-day, in-person phone repairs to Galaxy device owners across the United States. Starting on March 15th, Samsung customers will be able to bring their phones to any of more than 300 uBreakiFix service locations and have their devices repaired on the spot and usually within two hours or less. Samsung plans to expand the program throughout 2018 as well. Galaxy owners will have the option to either schedule an appointment at a uBreakiFix location, or just drop the phone off without calling ahead. Samsung assures customers that all uBreakiFix repair centers will have genuine Samsung parts, proprietary Samsung tools for the repairs, and conduct repairs by Samsung certified pros.
i can die in peace now
I was curious about where their locations might be, so I clicked. The Find Service Location near you page is totally broken. It has three fields: dropdowns called Type and Category, and a fill-in Zip Code. I can type in the Zip Code field, but there are no options listed on either of the dropdowns. These people don't know how to HTML.
I'm not buying another Samsung phone. I have an S8+. With a case. It fell out of my pocket while under the car changing oil, and the screen shattered. This was a1-2" drop. They claim to be using gorilla glass, but clearly are not. It's 299$ just for the parts on Amazon, who knows what it will be to get it repaired at these places. Why would they advertise for this? Obviously there are too many broken phones ;\
It would be nice if it is reported in the description what the actual problem is.
A shatter resistant phone would look better than a regular phone with a case, but why would Samsung or any other phone maker want to give up revenue from case sales, parts, and authorized repairs?
Oh and some people don't even bother with having their phone repaired and just get a new phone, so whichever way you look at it, the consumer ends up on the losing side.
The "pros" will work on your phone. The same pros that changed your car's oil last week at the Rube-a-Lube.
I pressed my finger on the screen first time I got it and had that distortion effect you get from touching an LCD. Even if it has the capacitive touch gel in-between, it means there was enough deformation in the screen to cause enough pressure on the LCD to display the sort of artifacting I should only see on a coverless desktop monitor (which BTW NEC solved 15 years ago with a series of monitors with a sheet of plexiglass over them. If only modern monitor developers would take the same tact... Industrial monitor models in fact do that!
Seriously, no link even to a previous article about what this recall is over?? Google really isn't turning up anything and despite calling the three major carriers in Canada, they have no idea either. Trying to contact Samsung.
Among other things I'm quite curious because I have an S7 and have since the day I bought it said the battery over heats.
OTOH hairdressers have been fixing bad hair that way for millennia.
Take a look at the S8 Active. I got that, and it has a metal edge to it, nice backplate, and flat glass. It is mil rated and waterproof. It also has a 4000mah battery so it will run for 2 days easy. Yes, it is a bit heavier, but I don't need a case so that makes up for it.
And for me, I hate the curved screen and this one is flat.
WTF are you on about? There's nothing about a recall.
Will they steal the phones, access its datas, etc.?
