Intel Tells Users to Uninstall Remote Keyboard App Over Unpatched Security Bugs (bleepingcomputer.com)

Intel has decided that instead of fixing three security bugs affecting the Intel Remote Keyboard Android app, it would be easier to discontinue the application altogether. BleepingComputer: The company announced its decision on Tuesday, following the discovery of three security bugs that affect all versions of the Intel Remote Keyboard. This is an Android application that Intel launched in 2015 to allow users to wirelessly control Intel NUC and Intel Compute Stick single-board computers. The bugs, discovered by three different researchers, when exploited, allow a nearby network attacker to inject keystrokes into remote keyboard sessions, and also execute malicious code on the user's Android device.

Oh, please ... it's a fucking app ... means it was written by interns, or some outsourced company, or cobbled together in a few days in someone's spare time as a proof of concept and pushed out the door by marketing.

Most apps are shit, and their sole purpose is usually to push ads and harvest your data. If the app does the same fucking thing as the company's web site, then doubly so.

Apps are some of the worst written software I've seen, precisely because nobody gives a fuck about quality, just getting it out the door.

So, Intel pushed our a shitty app, discovered it was broken beyond what they were prepared to spend on it, and now they're abandoning users. Color me fucking shocked.

We've reached peak app, which means maybe we can get back to usable software, instead of shitty apps which have been cobbled together by idiots. Over time I've uninstalled so many apps that I've stopped looking for new ones.

In a lot of ways, we have crappier software than we had in the 90s. First the internet turned everything into a crappy web-page which was worse than native apps for usability. Then it all became shitty apps.

I miss good native software, because most of what we've had since has been complete garbage.

No... it really doesn't. These are bugs in an Intel developed app, not Android itself.
