Former South Korean President Sentenced To 15 Years In Prison For Accepting $5.4 Million In Bribes From Samsung (npr.org)
South Korea's former president, Lee Myung-bak, was sentenced Friday to 15 years in prison for bribery and embezzlement. He will also have to pay $11.5 million in fines. NPR reports: Lee is the second South Korean leader convicted this year of charges of corruption and the fourth former president to be arrested for corruption since the 1990s. Prior to entering politics, Lee had been an executive at Hyundai and campaigned on a promise to help South Korea's economy grow. Lee served as president of South Korea from 2008 until 2013. A court ruled Friday that before and during his presidency Lee accepted $5.4 million in bribes from Samsung, South Korea's largest conglomerate.
In exchange, Lee had granted a presidential pardon to Lee Kun-hee, Samsung's chairman, who had been convicted of embezzlement and tax evasion. The conviction had forced Lee Kun-hee to resign from Samsung in 2008; he returned to work at the company shortly after receiving the presidential pardon. The court also found that former president Lee disguised his ownership of a lucrative auto-parts maker under the names of his relatives and embezzled 24 billion Korean won from the company, according to The New York Times. Samsung later offered to pay legal fees for a court case involving the auto-parts company. Lee, who did not appear in court on Friday, denied the charges. "During the hearings, he shifted the blame to his aides, accusing them of committing the crimes for their own profit and conspiring against him," Judge Chung Kae-seon said on Friday, according to The Times.

This guy was clearly an amateur. He should have looked to western politicians if he wants to see how to legally receive large bribes from corporations. All he need do is call them campaign donations and everything becomes perfectly acceptable and aboveboard.
It is good to see corruption in politics being punished for once. In the US you can hold a Senate hearing for Facebook where 46 of the 55 committee members have been paid off by Facebook in advance and nobody even bats an eyelid.
I can certainly understand that our political leaders shouldn't take bribes. Obviously that's bad.
But even more obviously, I can understand a human being having a great deal of trouble turning down millions of bribery dollars for favours that don't kill anybody.
You'll never get, even honest people to stop taking casual bribes. it's millions of dollars vs a rubber stamp. Everyone has their price.
I'm happy with a small jail term (I think 15 years is 14 years too many) and forfeiting the money with interest.
But what of Samsung? Shouldn't we be making it detrimental to offer bribes in the first place? I'd be happy with samsung being straight-up denied for any government application/request of any kind for one year per million dollars of bribery, plus a payment of double the bribe amount to local taxes.
In this case, with 5 million dollars in bribery, that would mean taxing samsung 10 million dollars and denying every government request (building application, tax exemption, valuation assessment) for the next 5 years.
I call it my sit-down-and-shut-up-for-a-while punishment.
I know you think that Ivan. For your homework, try to understand that this alone is enough to put him away, never mind the conspiracy, treason, money laundry and rape.
When all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a thumb.
Nope, Lee Myung-bak belongs to the other side.
This is just another Brexit type situation where the power brokers behind the curtain are being replaced while you're distracted by Trumpism. The world is changing, the old power brokers are on their last legs. People like Soros, RBG and the rest are fighting a battle they can't win with the actuarial tables. You're hearing the screeching as they get replaced and new blood takes over. Not that crazy leftists won't continue to try to stab people like Bolsonaro, but your opposition only feeds us.
For all that talk about being on the "wrong side of history" how does it feel to have seen the pendulum change directions? Right now, you're frantically hoping for some desperate way to stall it and you've found that those "beach friends" didn't cut it, there were more holes in that story than a 30 year old Swiss cheese.
But you don't have a choice. The world is moving the other way now and it's only gaining momentum the more you push against it. I know, this is some random AC and you don't believe a word I've said, but it's okay. Just watch. Reality will catch up to you soon.
We know your playbook. We know how to beat it. Watch in horror as your own words get parroted back to you in mockery. Watch as your team snatches defeat from the jaws of victory over and over. We've already turned the key players and we're using your clowns to entertain you with some puppet theater.
Be sure to thank Avenatti for that show. He helped secure Kavanaugh's appointment and most of you don't even realize it. You lose. Even Slashdot's servers are acting like they're in on the joke You know what captcha they gave me?
"Prophecy"
FOR WHAT? What in your fuzzy little socialist mind did any of these people do that was illegal?
Time to ban these fake editor accounts. Also, it's interesting that BeauHD and msmash are targeted, but nobody impersonates EditorDavid and whipslash. I wonder why these low-life trolls don't go after those editors, too.
Hi Ivan, for high crimes and misdemeanors.
When all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a thumb.
None of which is proven. Stop being a mindless NPC.
Claims are not evidence.
We are all innocent until proven guilty.
These are fundamental values of western culture.
>ThIs AlOnE Is EnOuGh To PuT HiM AwaY!
Said the nervous man for the hundredth time since the election.
Face it, you've got nothing.
Look at all these crazy claims I'm going to make without any sort of proof or evidence! He's obviously GUILTY!
TDS strikes again
Hello NPC.

Unfortunately, I feel all sites go this way. But, have a think about this, maybe its not the sites, maybe its us. Sites tend to attract an set age range of people and that doesn't change. However, as we grow older, we grow older than the common audience and find alot of the topics / discussion small minded and attention seeking and in your case, heard it before.. As we get older our dialog, interest, tolerances changes. Sites usually don't.
From my understanding, every S. Korean leader has either been exiled, killed or placed in prison for corruption since 1950. Either their democracy is working really well, where the courts actually act on corruption, or there's a clear legitimacy problem where despite elections corrupt leaders are almost always elected.
Actually, no. His taxes for the last 50 years was published by the NYT after a year long investigation and they found no significant Russian contacts.
So not even the anti-Trump NYT is with you.
Whipslash never posts, and EditorDavid is not retarded like Beau and Miss Mash. End of story. Those are real accounts, btw.
If you had actually read the article you refer to and weâ(TM)re in the slightest bit honest about what you read you, would drop the TDS nonsense about both Russia and his taxes.
He IS guilty of cheating on his wife, fucking whores, being a tough negotiator, having orange skin, a bad hair piece, and saying uncouth things.
None of those are felonies, much less high crimes n misdemeanors, or treasonous.
These days, you can't walk 10 feet in any direction without out running into evidence of Trump crime family high crimes and misdemeanors. You might be willing to tolerate that in your country, can't speak for you. Mainly because I'd need to disinfect my mouth after.
You do know that Trump's personal lawyer just turned state's witness and his campaign chairman is in jail, right? And that's just the beginning of it. It is said that Trump's longtime CFO has been singing like a bird for months. And again, that's just the beginning of it. This is one bad dude.

Give me a break. Manafort is sitting in prison right now, there's your evidence. As if you didn't know.
When all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a thumb.
Tax fraud is a felony, as is money laundering. And it seems you aren't clear on the what high crimes and misdemeanors means, with respect to the office of the presidency. Let me help you: it is whatever Congress says it is.
When all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a thumb.
Trump next. What goes around, comes around.
You are going to feel very foolish ... well, you'll probably edit this out of your memory after some number of years ...
Your a great standup comedian, with +12 Democratic right now, that is before the rapist judge bump.

He would get six months, downgraded to 6 days for good behavior
Yeah, edit this out of your memory, good luck.
When all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a thumb.
it has to be the _right_ 60%.... A Montanan voter has 46 times more political power than a California one, even though they get a big chunk of change from the taxes paid by that CA voter...
Hi! I make Firefox Plug-ins. Check 'em out @ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube-mp3-podcaster/
^^ Putin's dick cozy Anal Analmov comments again? Spasiba comrade.
Good point. Now Trump put an unrepentant rapist on the supreme court. I'm sure that's going to help with 60% of red state women who believe the victim. And surely you know that not everyone in a red state is beer swilling trailer trash.
When all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a thumb.
Wow, a presidential tier politician comes from a rich family? Shocking. Too bad the NY Times never bothered to do one of those exposes on Bush's family money. Too bad they didn't do this much critical reporting on the fake news leading up to the Iraq war. Hate to break it to you, but the NY Times ain't woke. It's just an CIA tool that supports imperialism. They're still salty that Trump didn't invade Syria is all. Also, don't forget they're 10% owned by a Mexican oligarch. Foreign meddling you say?
That's funny, because the last NPR poll was holding at +7. And nate silver's aggregate is holding around 80% that the republicans will hold the house and senate with 55% gaining more seats. That was before the liars that couldn't figure out where they were raped. And the other liar who said there were rapes, and went back 10 other times...apparently knowingly that it was happening. Oh, and she was a collage jr., at the time.
Om, nomnomnom...
Not true. Please link the story.
His latest tax returns have not been published
So your theory is, Trump reports his Russian mobster income on his income tax, whereas he never even reported his estate tax? Gotcha.
And the Times did you publish Trump's taxes for the last 50 years, you pulled that out of your infected ass.
When all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a thumb.
Reasonable people hold reasonable doubts, in turn expect evidence. That means they expect proof, and those "red state women" aren't showing up in droves for the democrats, in fact it's actually backfired. The whole "believe women" sham makes them look at their own husbands and sons and go...what the fuck are the democrats doing?! That could be MY husband or son.
Democrats overplayed their hand, so much so that they're already panicking and telling pundits to not harp on this "believe women" stuff. Seems like their internal polling showed that it turned voters against them, their ideas, and galvanized support for Kavenaugh.
Om, nomnomnom...
So what penalties are Samsung facing?
DEAL WITH IT INCEL REPUBLICAN FAGGOTS... nothing you can do about it either way now, lol deplorable inbreds and their rapist heroes don't matter.
There is no doubt in my mind that Trump's rapist judge is an angry drunk.
When all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a thumb.
The question now is does he still drink?
There is no doubt in my mind that Trump's rapist judge is an angry drunk.
Yeah well that happens when you think that hearsay is proof. Want to "listen and believe" by all means, to anyone who believes in the rule of law, standards of evidence, and so on? You just look unhinged and reminds everyone the dangers of the witch hunts of yore.
That simply makes you far more dangerous, because you don't care about evidence. Only what someone dangles in front of you for proof. Bet you would have loved the witch trials too, if she floats she's a witch. If she sinks, god's with her and will forgive us. Maybe next, you'll engage in the recitation of orthodoxy to prove that they're a pure soul.
Om, nomnomnom...
Yeah, Manafort is sitting in prison...for things he committed while working for the democrats, the podesta brothers, and acting as a foreign agent on their behalf.
Om, nomnomnom...
I am entitled to my opinion. My opinion is that Kavanaugh is an angry abusive drunk, no question in my mind whatsoever. After all, the angry abusive part is a matter of public record. The drunk part is credibly reported to my satisfaction. I think there is a better than even chance that he is also a rapist, but that is just a suspicion. Likewise, it is probable that he has a gambling problem, and that he receives financial support from secret donors. And I suspect that you are an incel. You are certainly an apologist for an angry drunk who lacks the temperament to sit on the bench, supreme court of any other.
When all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a thumb.
The question is did he lie under oath, and is he facing imminent impeachment in 6 weeks?
So you entire opinion is based on things that nobody can prove. Can provide no evidence for, can show no dates of, not a single police report of. A fine upstanding example of a person who's part of a mob and let's their emotions rule instead of their intelligence and reason.
And I suspect that you are an incel. You are certainly an apologist for an angry drunk who lacks the temperament to sit on the bench, supreme court of any other.
And there's the progressive/democrat garbage right on queueueueuueeue. When losing, engage in personal attacks, attacks against reputation, slander and with a hope and prayer it will stick. Hate to tell you this, but this stuff is burned out. I sure hope you enjoy the future you're now creating though.
Om, nomnomnom...
By the way, did you notice how Kavanaugh's face is crooked? I mean, it actually is. Look at a photo directly from the front, his eyes and the whole top of his head are five degrees rotated to his left. Just creepy.
I mean, if he wasn't an angry abusive wildly partisan drunk with a closet full of skeletons I would just overlook that. But he is all of that, so now that I shared this, you won't be able to unsee it. Check it out, it's true.
When all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a thumb.
So you entire opinion is based on things that nobody can prove.
You're full of crap. Major parts of it are a matter of public record. The rest requires connecting some big fat dots. I suppose you think that the investigation of Kavanaugh will just stop now that Trump's whitewash is done. News for you.
Now you need your daily boof. Just go ahead, I won't think badly of you. Oh sorry, that time I lied.
When all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a thumb.
You talking out your ass does not change the fact that Manafort is Mueller's bitch now. Cohen too, and Allen Weisselberg too.
Trump is the walking dead, you know it.
When all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a thumb.
Do you even know why your betters were crying enough to cause mudslides of late? Because Daddy's finally home and California can no longer fuck over the rest of the country by writing $6.2m hovels off from taxes.
So, no, Brokeback Buttfucker in Montana isn't at all being subsidized by fluffers like you. It's been rather the other way around, entirely.
He would have taken the revolving door to become CEO of a company with a ridiculous salary and golden parachute.
Heck, we're still waiting for the bankers behind the financial crisis to be punished. Any day now right?
Manafort, not Trump. Do try to keep on topic here.
Manafort sitting in prison is not evidence of trump committing "Conspiracy, treason, money laundry and rape".
That does not logically follow.
Repeat after me, NPC:
Claims. Alone. Are. Not. Evidence. Of. Crimes.
You're full of crap. Major parts of it are a matter of public record. The rest requires connecting some big fat dots
Funny how those "major parts of it are public record" don't show any sign of actual wrong doing isn't it.
Now you need your daily boof. Just go ahead, I won't think badly of you. Oh sorry, that time I lied.
Proving again that the left can't meme. Christ, why is all the crap you try so pathetic.
Om, nomnomnom...
"Facts" are me talking out my ass? Well I shouldn't be surprised, after all, you your view facts is 'only what people tell me is the truth.
Trump is the walking dead, you know it.
Really? Too bad you don't even know the law, imagine that.
Om, nomnomnom...
Hey did you notice how his accusers looked like they'd spent years hanging out in the sun? Know what that's from? Decades of substance abuse, pill popping tied with drinking alcohol.
I mean that just looks great. It also just looks great, with all those paid protesters accosting politicians in elevators, and then people finding out that they're all paid by the same organization. The left has no shortage of useful idiots.
Om, nomnomnom...
If it's so easy to find evidence why don't you list some?
If it's so easy to find evidence why don't you list some?
It's a witch hunters wet dream. Lots of "they're a witch, can we burn her?" "What for?" "they turned me into a newt." "A newt?" "I got better..." line of reasoning.
They have no evidence, not even circumstantial evidence of guilt. They have hearsay, uncorroborated statements, witnesses who have a history of actions that devalue any statements they make. There's not even basic general knowledge statements that they can give which can be corroborated by people. Nothing has been to court, nothing has been tried on fact or law. There's been no verdicts rendered. The fact that there are so many jackasses out there who are "listening and believing" is downright bad.
When Trump said a few days ago that "This is a terrible time for young men" he was right, the mentality of that other poster proves that. They don't need proof to go after you, just the accusation that you're not following orthodoxy, saying the wrong thing, holding the wrong opinions. Add in the smears of "they're a misogynist, sexist, rapist, incel" or whatever else? They're in full-on mob mode, and the only way it's going to stop is by either having enough people to say "e-fucking-nough" or continuing the path that has gone on for the last decade until someone snaps so hard that people start dying from it.
Om, nomnomnom...
I didn't notice that, but I did notice that Kavanaugh has an unusual number of blemishes on the right side of his crooked face, to the extent that he always tries to show his left profile. Like, something ugly in there wants out. See what I mean? This also shows how his mouth is twisted one way and his eyes are twisted the other.
I mean, if this was just anybody I wouldn't notice. But this is a deeply evil man. With a twisted face. Much like you I expect.
When all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a thumb.

And the progressive "I don't care that it's a lie." line rolls on. Up next, we'll see use of sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynist, and so-on as the person loses anything approaching rationality.
How pitiful, that this is all progressives have left.
Om, nomnomnom...
Yeah, those "blemishes" are from this thing called puberty. But you're calling someone a "deeply evil man" for facial features...yep, you really are engaging in a witch hunt.
How pitifully disgusting you are. Your entire basis of belief is based on superficial things, and not the content of character. Which shouldn't be a surprise considering how hard progressives love identity politics. Those pro-segregation stances you're holding are sure good too.
Om, nomnomnom...
False equivalence. Ignore.
Just kiss already, jesus christ
those "blemishes" are from this thing called puberty.
It looks worse than that, like a disease. And you see how twisted his face is, right? Like a car ran over it or something. Mouth twisted one way, eyes twisted the other.
When all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a thumb.
Thats what worries me. The evidence that Trump had engaged in money laundering and tax evasion is absolutely compelling, but unlike plucky South Korea, who took down its *own president* AND its beheaded its most iconic multinational to battle corruption , I don't trust washington to do this right.
After the Bush regime, the evidence to put away Cheney and others for a whole host of incredibly serious corruption allegations didn't mean shit because the govt declined to investigate. In the annals of history the closest we've come is Bill Clinton getting yelled at a bit for a blow job, and Richard Nixon resigning then walking away from a massive corruption of office scot free.
Make no bones about it. This administration is one of the corruptest we've ever seen. But nothing will be done about it. Best case Trump impeached and then promtly pardoned by Mike Pence. Worst case, Nothing at all.
Excuse the Unicode crap in my posts. That's an apostrophe, and slashdot is busted.
Kavanaugh blubbering on TV about his high school calendar for crying out loud, with his daddy sitting right behind him. These images etched into the internet forever. You guys bought this snowflake, now you own him.
When all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a thumb.
IANAL but if the Mueller investigation isn't over, and isn't leaking, isn't it impossible to say that there is or isn't any evidence? And any assertion that there is or isn't would be specious? I'm assuming the Mueller investigation, if they do have evidence, is going to be working even harder to suppress that information until proceedings begin. If they don't... Well, same thing. So right now all we can really discuss is the character and personal history of the person in question... So let's just wait for the investigation to conclude.
No. You're full of crap. You can believe whatever you want to believe, and delude yourself into thinking there's evidence to support it. Just go ahead. I will think badly of you.
Best case Trump impeached and then promtly pardoned by Mike Pence.
There are way better best cases. For example, Trump and Pence tossed out in 2020, Trump promptly indicted for tax fraud, conspiracy, you name it. Ends up with $3 billion bill for back taxes plus penalties, and a federal hotel.
When all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a thumb.
Reasonable people hold reasonable doubts, in turn expect evidence.
You are mixing up the criminal accusations with the unsuitability accusations.
Kavanaugh isn't suitable to be a judge and even the crooks don't try to deny that.
Luckily for them they can contest the accusations that Kavanaugh might be a criminal where they only have to raise reasonable doubt and people who aren't paying attention will forget that Kavanaughts strongest argument for his position is "I like beer" while refusing to answer how much he drinks and instead started to shout nonsense.
So your theory is, Trump reports his Russian mobster income on his income tax, whereas he never even reported his estate tax? Gotcha.
I don't know what his theory is, but my theory is that Trump has a lot of provable transactions that he haven't reported as anything.
That is how you catch money launderers. They have a lot of money rolling around but can't point to any legitimate source of it.
I wish they would hold the same candle to TRUMP. He has accept many billion of dollars direct from KGB (Kremlin and Putin's secret organization) - we MUST investigate TRUMP and find these fatal flaws to impeach. Who. Is. With. Me.
60% of the USA is with you. But indicting Trump will be more practical than impeaching, given the unlikely possibility of 60% ethical/moral senators before 2020. On the other hand, indicting Trump would only require indicting Kavanaugh first, for perjury. Looks like the more direct path.
Another realistic approach is, just contain Trump until 2020, then vote him out and immediately arrest. Don Jr can go to jail before that.
When your toilet paper has a piece of shit stuck to it.

Perjury is only illegal for Democrats.
Republicans can lie anywhere and any time they want.
Which is a good thing for them, otherwise they'd have to be totally silent much of the time.
I'm sure that Paul Manafort, Rick Gates, Michael Cohen, Michael Flynn, and George Papadopoulos will all be quite relieved when you inform them of this.
Il n'y a pas de Planet B.
You're going to have to do a lot better than, "I did NOT break both my legs, I only broke one! So I can walk just fine!" :-)
Il n'y a pas de Planet B.
Yes, I agree that the democrats are idiots and republicans are even bigger idiots.
Both sides in the media and public tend to be treating this as a criminal investigation. It was an interview process for Kavanaugh, and he's not entitled to the job, and nothing was guaranteed, no matter how many years you've served and what your track record is.
The "worst" for the republicans is the possibility of Kavanaugh not getting to be a supreme court judge and maintaining his current role. This isn't a criminal investigation. There's no "guilty". There's no sentencing as the Fox-News knuckleheads would claim. The guy's not going to get locked up no matter what the outcome would be, unless there's a separate criminal investigation afterwards. What we've seen so far has been a vetting process for the job. You know what, there are dozens of other qualified judges on Trump's list that could have been admitted. This isn't the same scenario as the former South Korean president.
Kavanaugh's a favorite because of his view that the president should not be charged/impeached/ indicted if the Muller investigations result turn out to be true, and they're clearly rushing to get this done before the mid-terms, and the Democrats are doing what they can to delay this. The way the Democrats handled this by delaying the revelation of the assaults have just been poorly handled too.
Let's limit the scope of the FBI investigation into the allegations, to limit what's reported, in time used to report, only allowing senators to read the document in 1-hr increments, not even interviewing the accuser and accused in the FBI investigations.
If the Supreme Court position were not a lifetime nomination, it might anger both sides a little less.
If this was a discussion on whether he should be locked up, then there woudn't be enough evidence yet (not "no evidence") - but the investigation was limited. This being a job vetting process is judging the guy based on his character, views and behavior. Everybody know that FBI investigation was just for show.
Some guy on another thread mentioned whether an employer has the right to care or know what you do outside of work hours. I agree that they shouldn't care, but if it's impacting the employee's performance and decision making, then it should be something of concern. USA political experts here can maybe clarify, but the difference here is that there's probably no mechanism for him to get "fired".
The guy lied under oath multiple times and that still didn't matter for the republicans. You guys have a president that was surrounding in controversy during his campaign and the republicans still supported him (although not initially). Now Fox news is worshiping and promoting him as much as ESPN worships and promotes Lebron James.
"Witch Hunt".
Stay off the Fox Kool-Aid, kid. Just because you're on a "News for Nerds" site, doesn't mean it automatically grants you critical thinking skills.
Thre's plenty of evidence for how he sucks off the Saudis and Israel in exchange for their sweet, sweet, money, which would be a slam dunk if 98% of Congress wasn't with him in backing those tyrants.
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
The accounts are real in the sense they exist, but they are not those of Slashdot editors, else they'd have the /. badge.
I am entitled to my opinion. My opinion is that Kavanaugh is an angry abusive drunk, no question in my mind whatsoever.
This is the problem. They have gotten you to make a determination based on "how you feel", rather than "what you know". They tell you a story that you can connect to personal events in your own life, and whammo, it must be "true"!
Dangerous. This allows anyone willing to provide false witness the ability to sell any situation they want, and change anything they want in their favor. Facts matter for a reason.
He said/she said arguments are among the most difficult things we have to deal with. Both sides might be a little right, a little wrong, or it may be way lopsided, but when there isn't any factual evidence - how the hell do you judge? "The most convincing"? Liars *love* that. If you are willing to drop requirements for substantial evidence because someone is simply "more convincing", you're launching yourself down the slippery slope on a sled covered in spikes.
Cry-baby bababa ... toss the real criminal Trotsky-sluts Feinstein and Pelosi into the brig beside Billary and Harris. I'm sure Kavanaugh will act as a fair judge ... hehehe ... hard time for DemoSlut bitches Russian and Chi.com crime. Ohhhh that's gonna butt-hurt your SJW krak.
And there's the progressive/democrat garbage right on queueueueuueeue.
The word you're looking for there is "cueueueueuueeue".
There's this famous saying that anybody can be investigated and found guilty of a felony with a few hours work.
So obviously with the vigorous witch hunt of an 'independent counsel' all sorts of crimes can be tracked down. It worked with both the Clinton and the Trump administrations. All sorts of petty graft and crime can be uncovered, particularly if the bounds of investigation are left wide open so that irrelevant side cases can be swept into the net.
98% doesn't really constitute a 'conspiracy.'
That's more a matter of loony delusion. Hi loon!
There is no doubt in my mind
There's no room for doubt in such a tiny mind.

I hope you enjoy losing, you're going to do a lot of it.
How dare he be mad about being falsely accused of groping and running rape trains and other nonsense! How dare he be upset that his wife and daughters received death threats! How dare he be mad that the media would print allegations where they were forced to admit that they were not able to corroborate a singled damned thing in them.
The best "evidence" you have is that she allegedly told other people about this while preparing to make the attack. He's been shortlisted since 2012. The door was from 2008. The Safeway she plugged repeatedly in her testimony was built in 1986, not 1982. She was working with an ex-FBI lawyer when preparing this and her allegations kept changing to become more specific every time she knew more about what alibis Brett had. Funny how that works out! It's a pity that none of the facts actually align and her changing story only made us more suspicious.
This never happened. She deserves to be charged with perjury. Even her lawyer has a lawyer now.
Get used to losing.
Perhaps you haven't been following politics in the US for the past 25 or so years, but falsely alleging crimes against the Clintons and then having ridiculously partisan investigations has been a cottage industry since 1993 (starting with Travelgate I believe). I would have to imagine that after having spent over $100 million, the Republicans probably have at most one single administration member's conviction to show for it -- and how many acquittals?
Contrast that with Trump investigations, also run exclusively by Republicans (Comey, Wray, Rosenstein, Mueller, etc.), where the convictions are selling like hotcakes. Do you really think that felony convictions of Trump's personal lawyer, campaign manager, and National Security Advisor have no reflection on Trump?
Do you think that Trump is really a self-made billionaire who just had the rotten luck of not being able to keep several casinos from going bankrupt and the people he chose to surround himself with turning out to be criminals?
If it's so easy to indict a ham sandwich, where are all the Obama administration officials that the Republican-controlled DOJ and Congress (who *hated* Obama) should be indicting now? Why were those millions of dollars on Clinton investigations so fruitless? Why isn't Trump delivering on his "lock her up" campaign promise?
Yeah, those "blemishes" are from this thing called puberty.
Yeah, right, never saw zits like that. They look more like pre-cancerous things. And just on one side of his face. And his whole face is bent, mouth twisted one way and eyes twisted the other. I mean, normally you'd just quickly forget such things, but this is your angry, lying, abusive, drunken, partisan, gambling addict judge here.
When all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a thumb.
Why should Trump not go to prison if he is a criminal? Is Trump above the law, like a king?
When all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a thumb.
right here.
There's also numerous emoluments clause violations that are so blatant that the question isn't "Is he guilty" it's "have be abandoned the rule of law". You can google them, it's not hard.
As for Trump himself, that's coming. We're taking down the most powerful man on earth. One who gave billions of dollars to the 1% who would like very much for that gravy train to continue. You can't just throw together a case overnight. He'll ignore the impeachment and the current SCOTUS will let it slide.
Go read up on Nixon. It took a while to bring the pain.
Hi! I make Firefox Plug-ins. Check 'em out @ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/youtube-mp3-podcaster/
And now he's appointed for life :)
Winning!
Da komrade, winning if you are Russian.
When all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a thumb.
I'm sure that Paul Manafort, Rick Gates, Michael Cohen, Michael Flynn, and George Papadopoulos will all be quite relieved when you inform them of this.
Guardian really has gone to even worse shit in the last year, that's pretty sad. You've got them making connections using angel pasta and it's about as strong. Well if it wasn't thanksgiving weekend I'd sit down and rip it into small pieces for your enjoyment. In short, manafort was convicted of things while working for democrats, and as an agent of the podesta brothers(that's the democrats again). Cohen was charged for doing the same thing rosie o'donnel did, just to give you an idea(also Obama did the same thing and was fined nearly $200k) - this is an effective non-criminal crime. Flynn lied during his interview process and got thrown out by the campaign, a wet paper bag is more correct here in terms of ties, being that the Trump camp got rid of him asap. Papadopoulous was charged with a crime unrelated to Trump, but rather lying to the FBI pretending he "had information" that didn't exist. He was a political nobody, with no political power, with no contact power, and tried to make himself into a "somebody" and it backfired.
Om, nomnomnom...
The problem is, unless Mueller knows something we dont (and thats quite plausible). there isnt much evidence Pence knew much of whatever was going on regarding the financing and possibly foreign collaboration in the campaign. I mean he might have, but I get the feeling this is mostly about Trump and his inner circle. And since Pence is next in line in the case of the president being removed, he'll be made president and in a position to just pardon the shit out of things. Hell even if Pence goes down, theres a whole conga line of assholes in place to take the role and then pardon. Theres just nothing in the constitution to force a new election. And thats something that really needs to change.
Excuse the Unicode crap in my posts. That's an apostrophe, and slashdot is busted.
2020 is the year of the next presidential election. When Trump goes, Pence goes. No pardon power. Bang, arrested.
When all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a thumb.
The big problem with slashdot and lately arstechnica is that at different points in the recent past they got enough attention to get listed in the militarized trolling campaigns of multiple authoritarian countries. Since that started in 1995 as Russia invaded Chechnya the first time, every website has fallen from its originally idealized position. People were too slow to catch on though, so it is now an outbreak situation. The Russians and other authoritarians haphazardly spread the information plague to kill their enemies.
Good point. Now Trump put an unrepentant rapist on the supreme court.
Trump put a man on the supreme court who was and still is accused of rape, before the accusations went to a court, and before the were refuted.
Obviously you wouldn't want a rapist in that position. I also wouldn't want one in that position who hasn't been found at least "more likely to be innocent".
Why should Trump not go to prison if he is a criminal? Is Trump above the law, like a king?
Because he's not a criminal.
You are just fantasizing about making your political opposition criminal. The only countries that actually do that are full on dictatorships and various banana republics.
None of this stuff you lust for is going to happen.

We must agree to disagree. Meanwhile, Mueller and others already know with certainty.

The truth is, Trump and his followers have done a lot of that in the last several years, too. All the 'Lock her up' chants at rallies, etc.
It's banana republics that lock up the 'opposition' after the election is over. Thank goodness that impulse on the part of Trump's group has been toned down.
It's good trolling bait, however.
Oh boohoo. Are the cops supposed to ignore the dead body in the hall when they search your house for weed they could smell? Pro tip- if you don't want to be found guilty, don't fucking commit the crime asshole.
You heard it here first: Judges holding to constitutionalism are russian.
What are you going to do if the democrats lose it all during the fall election? Blame the russians as well, or realize that they've managed to turn just about everybody against them by their own actions. So much for that "double generic" lead, which became a "single generic" lead, which is now "trending republican."
Om, nomnomnom...
You're going to have to do a lot better than, "I did NOT break both my legs, I only broke one! So I can walk just fine!" :-)
You're going to have to do far better then a witness that claims they saw gangrapes(felony), didn't report it(felony), went back multiple times(conspiracy), and did so as an adult in a house full of minors apparently(got several felonies on that one - especially since she claimed she was screwing people there).
Om, nomnomnom...

Except they're not zits. They're a type of pockmark, you know something that was very common on people prior to say 1990. Maybe you should go look at some other pictures instead of the ones presented in media articles? Give you a hint, as to why publications use pictures like that. It's to make you think exactly as you have, react exactly like you have.
But if we're going to go with unbridled allegations, I'm sure you can explain your wife beating and child rapes. ...Right?
Om, nomnomnom...

Pockmarks if you like, pockmarks that look like pre-cancer. And on only one side of his face, the side he always tries to turn away from the camera. And then his whole skull seems to be bent, so his mouth is twisted one way and his eyes are twisted the other. Just a very creepy face if you happen to look at it.
I guess, Kavanaugh's mind is also twisted and has per-cancerous pockmarks. Your guy.
When all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a thumb.
This guy holds to the constitution exactly as a biggot holds to the flag
