What happened to the artcle about the release of the source to UltraHLE? I saw it on here about two hours ago... Now it's gone.
Very Nice.

I was wondering the same thing. A few stories just disappeared, and the icons on the heading became messed up.

We needa varity of cases

obviously, companies are missing out on a growing demand of cool looking cases. Sure Apples has some wiredos but when are we going to be offered a huge choice in cases.
that lego thing was cool. Maybe lego should make a division just for computer cases.
KNEX

I think making a KNEX case would be pretty cool...not only would it look pretty awesome but it would be farily open for air to circulate through it and cool down the components. The downside would be that KNEX aren't nearly as strong as lego's. Maybe meccano?
Sounds like something sitting in my closet.

I have an old monochrome monitor in the closet that has a case built out of lego. I built it back in the days of the XT. (I could not afford a real monochrome monitor, so I bought the guts for $5 and built a case. It cost me more than the actual monitor would have, but was more fun to build.)
I will have to dig it out and make pictures.

I think it's very appropriate that the Mac finally get's a look suited to what's going on "underneath the hood"...
...although I would have chosen Duplo, or maybe Play-Doh:)

you could get away with making a corrugated carboard case. Nowadays, with 400Mhz chips and 3d cards, I fear the insulating powers of carboard (not to mention the rf emissions). To any who dare to try, though, let me say that it is very easy to work with, and much more enduring than you might imagine. Now, if I could get a bunch of army ants to form a case...
Now it's time for the next step...

Impressive. Now, let's see what can be done with MindStorms-based computer cases. That should make for something very interesting indeed.
/. has been really messed up lately...

I dunno if anyone else has noticed this, but I've been getting tons of broken links, garbled pages, self-referencing links (that should be referencing the next comment), hopelessly fubared formatting, and so on recently. Also stories that appear and disappear, as well as comments that do the same. Now the icons along the top bar are shot.

Several articles disappeared. The UltraHLE one, the Microsoft link, the FPGA supercomputer, Falwell and the Teletubbies, Internet2, and a couple others. I think the software burped,/. hasn't been particularly stable the last few days.
