Hopkins FBI Playable Demo for Linux
palpatine writes "Hopkins FBI
playable demo for Linux is now available at their FTP site. I've already tried the game, and it's loads of fun. "
To big for me to download. I need a T1. Hell, I need the
other channel on my ISDN line!
x86 only, no source. Sorry {Alpha,Sparc,ARM,PowerPC} lovers.
I remember hearing about this game back in late '97 and how it was going to be available for BeOS, Windows, and OS/2. I even signed on to their beta list, but never received any email. Looks like Be loses yet again to the Linux juggernaut, despite the fact that it'd probably be easier to port the game to BeOS, with its nice DirectWindow and sound API's, than to X and /dev/dsp.
It's just as well, since I use Linux more than BeOS anyway. I'll definitely have to download this and check it out.

As someone with only a POTS connection at home I am taking advantage of the T1 line at the college to speedily tell you how little sympathy I have for people who "only" have ISDN.
I see even classic Slashdot is now pretty much unusable on dial up anymore.
Well, since they differentiate between a "rolling demo" and a "playable demo," I'd guess it's either just that or perhaps a bunch of cut scenes taped together.
Okay, I got Linux installed. So where's the free beer everyone keeps talking about??
120kb/s. Seems quite okay with me. I'm going to play! :>
