That is the last thing I esteem in excel. They changed the shortcuts that made me superhuman. The IDE is more flaky than ten years ago. It's on its way to being replaced!
I was looking for someone to take "troll" to task, in addressing this situation that I'm sure many linux users have encountered. I know I have had similar experiences. I think the comparison that would need to be made is that linux is a powerful *platform*, not an office suite where you have one of each type of application picked out for you. You need to know which tools written for it work best. And that is the job of the distribution, not linux. Maybe linux.com should press this point.
Fascinating thread of discussion here! I have to say that if you could live without the help of the government, you'd have an argument to not pay taxes. Unfortunately, you are living with their help with their police force and military protection.
If you think you're living free from being dependent on anything, then try making do without money.
Upon reading the military Turing test, it occurred to me that this is the ultimate soldier. It can always fall upon this famous quoted line to indicate why it did why it did. This brings more bearing in modern times when soldiers are being prosecuted for their battle decisions.
Usually when I read release notes for an open-source project for a minor release like this, there are maybe one or two user interface features. This one looks more like the MS Office upgrade from version 5.0 to 6.0! I am glad OpenOffice is adding the features for power users. I try to use OO instead of MS Office and often settle with Office because of the feature set. I'll be very glad to try out this new minor release next time I have an office task!
Imagine seeing walking to work and seeing a sign saying "Free Meal at our restaurant!". The sign is for a restaurant that is 5 blocks away. So you take your lunch to walk over there, and the restaurant is great - all sorts of gourmet foods and great drinks. The free lunch, though, is a small salad with croutons.
I suppose you'd better be ready to pay for anything you want for free. I gave up my mail.com account when I couldn't use it for the reason I got it for.
