Many do. If you think about it, most people who use a smartphone and/or tablet (which are many) are using an included e-mail client in lieu of web-based interfaces. With Win8's ambition of being a tablet-friendly OS, the Metro e-mail client should be at least on par with all of the commonly-used clients seen in iOS, Android or even WP7.
Maybe I don't know enough about user account management, so if I am misinformed, somebody please fill me in.
Is there a reason that so many of these big-name corporations are not employing hashes? I mean, the SHA algorithms (for example) aren't exactly hard to come by so it's not like they have to reinvent the wheel. Every DBMS worth its salt has these functions built into it. Is SHA1($password) too much for them to type?
I just cannot fathom why they would ever store unobfuscated passwords...
Reminds me of a book I liked to read as a child, the National Geographic Picture Atlas of our Universe. It had some speculative artwork and descriptions of what life on all of the planets in the solar system would be like. (Including Pluto; I miss those days.)
Their depiction of life on Jupiter included gigantic blimp-like creatures and flying, dart-like predators that would cause them to burst.
It makes the Linux and open source communities look bad when the man who has essentially become the face of it all is publicly throwing childish profanities at a major company for not offering software to Linux users in the way that he thinks they should. If we want help from other hardware manufacturers down the road then we should at least appear somewhat civilized. I enjoy using Linux but don't appreciate that this is how my best interests are being represented.
It's enough of a miracle that nVidia has thrown a bone to Linux users at all. I have always appreciated that they have taken the time and effort to make Windows alternatives more viable. I would really rather not bite that hand...
Yeah, Drupal became such a buzzword with employers that I forced myself sit down and develop a couple of sites with it.
It hurts me inside.
Yo dawg, we heard you like to write html codes so we wrote some php codes for you to write your html codes.
Woah! When did this happen?
T-bird just auto-configured IMAP for me in a matter of seconds!

Thanks, that was just the laugh I needed this morning. =)
Is anything named after her?
I bet that gets lots of 'lolz'
We call them "lulz" now.

Ok. I will await these numbing statistics you speak of.
OS X has a widened user base, no doubt about that. But the world has hardly yielded to it as most widespread or commonly-used desktop OS.
YAAAAAAWN
More people get killed by lightning in a couple of months than from terrorism in the last few years.
But many more people are still being routinely murdered, for reasons other than terrorism (as it were).
Desktop operating systems yielded to MacOSX (and maybe Ubuntu)
And speaking of Kool Aid...
The command + space shortcut in OS X is a real lifesaver, too. It's nice to not have to navigate the file system to locate an application.
No, it's pretty darn useless.
The correct name is, "WARP WALRUS"
Torvalds' "fuck you" to nVidia kinda sums the whole thing up.
I look forward to the day when we have lavish restaurants stationed nearby so that we can watch while we dine.
Yes. It is still just as easy as pressing the Windows key, then typing to start your search.
"We want people to use whatever's easier for them."
"...We're just going to be the ones to decide what's easier for people."

Turtles are so damn rugged and scaly that it's impossible to really tell just by observation.
Well, now they can just count the rings.
Well, if they can live to be 200 years old, then relatively speaking, 100(ish) isn't that old...

I kind of wonder whether the flagging system does anything at all...
