SpaceShipOne did what it was designed to do, go straight up 100miles, and come back. Asking it to reach LEO is like asking the wright flyer to cross the atlantic.

Kilometers, not miles. Bit of a difference there. 100 mi is near LEO, 100km is barely halfway there. Honestly, it is an achievement, but there is a long way to go.

I'm not sure what you mean. XM and Sirius were in bidding wars over the leagues, not the other way around. They were in direct competition for the athletic content. So indeed the NFL was able to charge a premium. And you are right the price will go down. But I don't see how your statement shows that the two satellite providers weren't in competition.

It's very easy to tell if someone is paying attention when they are backing up. And even if he looked in his mirrors, the way he gunned his car back he would not be able to stop if someone was in his blind spot, which I know he didn't check because you have to turn your head to do it. Bottom line, he was driving recklessly. By the way. It's not the street I'm talking about. It's the sidewalk, which he has to cross to get to the street. I don't know why I'm responding anyways. I can tell that you're just like him. An inconsiderate, self-absorbed asshole. Hope you have a wonderful life.

I am sympathetic with her. I have two small kids and there is no excuse for speeding or reckless driving in a residential area. There was a young punk that lived across the street that would always rocket out of his driveway with barely a glance in his mirrors. If a kid, or adult, was walking down the side walk he could have easily mowed them down. Long story short, I had a little talk with him a couple of times until I got the message across effectively and he didn't do it anymore.

That sounds like harassment to me. I'm not saying that he is right and that they are wrong. I merely providing information here. Don't shoot the messenger.

  10. Re:There's no such thing as race. on A Criticism of Race Portrayal in Games · · Score: 2, Interesting

It's the identification of races that is the problem. Most people differentiate the races based on skin or hair color, facial features, body proportions, etc. But in reality you may have more genetically in common with someone who looks dramatically different from you than someone who shares your external traits. That is a proven fact, and that is one of the reasons that most scientists reject race classification. You are correct that some people are dominant in athletics, some are dominant in intelligence, some are more artistic, but this has more to do with individual DNA and groups of people that are related than so-called "races". My basic point is this, while you may be able to tell what "race" someone is by looking at them, you cannot necessarily tell other things. Differentiation in physical appearance takes up such a small portion or our genome.

I meant in more of a physical/geographical sense. As in, standing on the surface of a sphere. Two dimensions actually in a three dimensional space. Which is an appropriate analogy because we perceive life through three dimensions, but the universe is made up of more. Yes, I know that time and space are part of the same thing, but I think you can get my point. From our point of view it appears that the universe has to have a beginning and an end(both in time and space), because the concept that it doesn't is hard for our minds to grasp.
