Evolution makes no statements about whether God created the universe. The Catholics (and others) understand this and just consider evolution to be the way He went about it.
Must be a jurisdiction thing, I just quizzed my son who finished high school last summer and he seemed to have a good rudimentary understanding of the periodic table, especially since he has very little interest in it. This is in BC
The periodic table is a good example of another topic that is at least as important to understand, and yet gets much less attention in education. Your average high school graduate could at least give a one-sentence explanation of evolution (even if they might not "believe" in it.) I would be surprised if the average graduate could even come up with halfway reasonable definition of an "element," much less tell you anything about the periodic table.
I'd consider it a pretty shitty curriculum that didn't teach the basics of the periodic table. As far as I remember there was roughly the same time devoted to the periodic table, including the makeup of atoms as there was devoted to evolution.
America pays below market value and China is offering to pay more so the governments plan is to build a couple of pipelines to the Pacific and sell them the oil instead.
You just need to homestead high in the atmosphere. Once you're high enough for 1 (Earth) atmosphere pressure, the temperature is pretty close to 20 celsius. Easier to float in CO2 as well.
Variety. Think, if human kind got the capability for cheap inter-planetary travel there'd be colonies in all kinds of environments, asteroids, comets, various gas giant satellites and any easy to terraform planets. Different people like different things.
For the average person, living in communist Russia was much better then living under the Czars. Now if they had banned religion sooner it would have even been better as the real nutcases like Stalin were religiously raised. Of course it could be argued that if they hadn't banned organized religion then Stalin would have just been another priest.
The original 14+14 year copyright would work for that as well as the situation where someone publishes on their deathbed to give the family an income. If you can't take advantage of 28 years of income to become self sufficient then perhaps all you deserve is a Darwin award.
You only have a house and property due to government (they stole it and allow you to use it) and you have to pay. You have as much choice about whether to use society as you do about whether you can live without groceries. If you take the groceries, you're expected to pay and if you take advantage of society, you're expected to pay. Either way you have the choice of not eating store bought stuff or taking advantage of society.
You weren't born into a society that was set up to increase your survival chances? You didn't grow up fairly safe due to society making it so the odds of you growing up were fairly high? You didn't get educated? You didn't live on land that was stolen by society? You have never benefited by having food delivered over the road system? You have never benefited by being able to go to work? You have never benefited from having a workplace to go to? The list of benefits that you have received is huge. If you don't want to use government services, quit working, get dropped off on a random piece of the Alaska highway and live without government services. You seem to believe that you haven't benefited from society and live separate from society. Proof it, quit using anything supplied by society and you won't have to pay taxes.
If you don't believe in paying taxes, why pay them? You are perfectly free not to pay taxes just like many other transactions. All you have to do is not take the benefits that paying taxes gives you and you don't have to pay them. This is the problem with Libertarians, the ultimate entitlement culture, everything should be free and if someone demands payment it's so unfair. Do you go grocery shopping, then bitch about having to pay? Do you buy on credit then bitch about having to pay? It's a fact of life, when you take products or services from someone else, you are expected to pay for it and if you don't then you are likely to get a gun pointed at you to encourage you to pay. Don't like it, then don't have transactions with those forcing you to pay for those transactions.
Yes, it was left to the Various States, the Courts (America has always been common law and in common law things can be illegal without legislation) or perhaps the President to remove the freedom of speech. If they wanted to allow totally unrestricted speech they would have said so, instead they just stopped Congress from doing it on a national level.
We're talking about the UK, not Ireland. At that he'd have to be somewhat old (born before 1949) to be one of the very few British subjects left. More likely he was just too stupid to know that he was a British citizen. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_subject#After_1983
Probably gravitational collapse. Note that locally Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune all put out excess heat which is considered due to them still collapsing.
If I go to the hardware store (in BC) all measurements are in standard excepting liquid. Get some 8 ft 2x4s, 4x8x3/8s plywood, couple of pounds of 1 3/4 nails, 100 lbs of cement, 3.78 litres of paint, 1 litre of paint thinner and a 341 ml can of pop. Only 7 miles to the hardware store too. 40 odd years after the change we're pretty bilingual but many things are still standard
Honest question, do the Canadians give us "special pricing", or do they sell at market rates? A disruption in the Middle East still affects the U.S.
Well our government keeps going on about how we need to sell to China so we can get full market price instead of the American price so I'd assume America as our only customer gets a deal.
Are there not States such as Arizona where you better be able to prove your citizenship if an officer of the law asks you? I guess you do have the choice of State issued ID or Federal issued.
Sounds like Americans should start thinking about a constitutional amendment to fix your voting system. Something like Elections Canada to run the elections and have fair impartial election districts. Seems that for a democracy the most important thing is to have fair elections where most everyone can agree who the winner is. With this election looking to be another close to tie, that'll make 3 out of the last 4 elections questionable.
I would think that doing business where you have customers would be pretty important for capitalism's spirit. Really doesn't matter what the tax rate is if you have no money.
In the real world, at least in the west, governments are elected by the common man and the way to get elected is by promising lower taxes and more spending. The main difference between the parties ends up on what they're going to spend money on.
Forest fires are carbon neutral, forest is converted to CO2, then a new forest sequesters that same CO2. People dig up old CO2 and release it into the atmosphere increasing the percentage of CO2 in the atmosphere. We have a pretty good idea of how much oil and coal is dug up and burned and it is simple to test how much CO2 is released by burning coal and/or oil.

I think those guys have been hit by massive budget cutbacks like Elections Canada was, to make sure they're ineffective.

Here's an article from 1895, http://query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9B01EEDC113AE533A25756C1A9669D94649ED7CF&scp=1&sq=%22age+of+consent%22+delaware&st=p click the PDF link for the full article.
Note that it is women complaining about how low the age of consent is, especially in Delaware where it is 7 years of age. So as recently as a 117 years ago it was OK to have sex with a 7 year old in at least one State with it considered rape if she was under 7.

Actually the original copyright law was stated as existing for the progress of learning. (Queen Annes Statute).
