My problem isn't with viewing Anime, but with many other Foreign films (namely French or from Hong Kong) that are often already translated with Subtittles in the films. Many of these movies are great (plot/action wise) but because of a lack of interest in most foreign films in the U.S., very rarely do they have domestic DVD distribution. I was actually looking at All-Region playing Players this morning.
Because UPN is (if i remember correctly) Owned by Paramount.. which i'm fairly sure is who ones the rights to star trek.. alot of maybes, but i think this is why (don't have the time right now to confirm that information at all though)
I think people here are failing to realise that this is a country that praises being free, and to supress (sp?) ourselves in an event like this gives terrorism the victory. What have they (they being the terrorists) lost? They lost maybe $10,000 and maybe 20 lives.. what about the people of the U.S.? 5000 lives, billions of dollars, and something that makes the United States stand out.. the promise of a government to it's people of freedoms.. freedoms of thought, freedoms of individuality...
There's also a 2 Wire (www.2wire.com) Homeportal device.. Has HPNA, and you can get a wireless version as well, has NAT, Firewall, will work with DSL, only downside i know of is the limited Ethernet ports.
Maybe i'm wrong on this one, but when i first heard this movie was being put into production that they were dubbing it during production in both Japanese and English.. apparently i was mistaken.
well, i simply ment that not knowing any editor. I only know enough of vi of how to edit the file and write the changes and exit. personally i prefure emacs (and you're right, it is an overkill) I was just amused at that statement.
The only thing i was curious of is that it talks about the security potential and setting up an openBSD machine to some extent, it even goes on to mention that if you don't know how to navigate bash or to use editors to learn that first... so i'm really wondering who that doesn't know how to use an editor is going to want to set up openbsd as a Firewall? just struck me odd

Okay, linux is NOT unix, linux is based off of emulating a UNIX enviroment, which is the main difference between that and *BSD. BSD's are actually based off of the code of Berkely's unix, which is the alternative to System V Unix. Now, another big thing is that the FreeBSD developers (and possibly Net and Open) actually worked at Berkely on the software research facility untill they closed that down.
I would say the best places would be newsgroups and irc, also always read the MAN files and faqs. And never forget the power of a good book (Oreilly books are very good at covering tech information, i.e. linux in a nutshell, also nice books for linux user[i do use freebsd btw] for redhat and i believe the other one is debian. But yeah, basically you don't want to waste the developers time, also they usually will have lots of mailing lists set up, subscribe subscribe subscribe.
Is it just me or is this whole blair witch thing just getting on your nerves. Now i say the movie, and yes it was a decent flick, but come on people, it was decent because it was original. Now everyone and their brother (Scooby Doo, MTV, etc.) has a Blair Witch parady.. and i can't be the only annoyed one here. Thanks for listening to my rant..
Now, i've read three or four William Gibson books (Neuromancer was good, Idoru mediocre) but my main complaint is his lack of knowing how to end his novels (except Neuromancer, though a down ending, was interesting)
But to my point, i just started reading a book based in the late eighties, and one of the two main charectors is a Computer Hacker on the run, cheesy right? well i thought it would be, but to my point, Drawing Blood by Poppy z.Brite, now it does have a lot of homosexual overtones, but it's still very well written horror and tech stuff, but doesn't try to mix them (yet)
