Whenever he said the words they will be blocked out of his memory after 30 minutes ago. He can't remember the word he said. Even if i tell him he forgets it again after 5 minutes and he can't remember actually saying the words. For example:
He tried to remeber a word in an add he saw during "Grey's anatomy" so he downloaded about 40 episodes of grey's anatomy. He watched the first 5 seconds of each episode. Every episode started with the words: "Last time in grey's anatomy...", so it got stuck in his head. He said it 5 times. I witnessed this. He can't remember saying those words. Even if he sees a episode again with the words "Last time in grey's anatomy". It's ereased from his memory for good...
Pretty freaky...
He can't remember a single word he has repeated 5 times.
but you can disable it when pressing escape. 8 GB of ram happens in servers in most cases. So if you have to reboot frequently i would take a look at that instead. If you have to reboot a couple of times in one session you will be present anyway so you can press escape and skip the memory test.
"Let me get this straight: He claims Linux is equal to Windows by using web-based email, web-based chat clients, web-based music stations, and web-based text processing. I fail to see how this article has anything to do with the pro's and cons of a Linux desktop, since you can do any of those same things on any platform with a web connection and browser with a flash plugin (for pandora)."
Well as you said he's online for almost all his applications so a secure and protected environment is a number one priority. Windows with holes in Internet Explorer, and susceptible for viruses and hacking/trojans etc etc is probably the last thing you want. It clutters up your bandwidth to name one thing (ok it's the weakest argument but the only thing joe sixpack cares about)...
I've never seen anybody move his house over public roads, but i do see myself waiting
for red lights, about 10 times a day, that are absolutely unnecessary....
"See my answer to your first question -- because the State made it that way, not Microsoft. They were only taking advantage of what you, the voter, wanted."
And who should i vote for if i don't want this?
If the guy that flips burgers throws a cooking pan at someone because he complains
about the f%cking burger that tastes weird, or the guy that fixes your broadband connection
sticks a broomstick up some hackers ass because he went for his knife because he heard
that his internet connection would be disconnected for a month, they are arrested, prosecuted
and convicted. As They Should Be!!! After they have repaid their dept to society i don't
see why they can't be trusted to have a same type of job again.
If a police officer or someone in the military for example who have the special right
(read: we trust them enough) to apply force when they are in danger, and they misuse
that power (=abuse our trust) they should be be stripped from that power and
NEVER been allowed to have that power again. They can't handle it.
We had a few courses that taught us the basics of
designing a program from scratch, outline the problem,
asking users from the basics, what is the objective
in regards to the information flow that you want to have.
UI Design. IP laws you may come across, marketing/advertising
of your application, in other words the whole package.
It was a project that had all kinds of students in it,
all from different angels, some studied law other
marketing, management, computer science and Business
& Computer Science. Every team consisted of minimum 1 student
of every department maximum of 2 per department, with a maximum
of 8 persons per team.
The project also covered different courses. I studied Business & Computer Science
so for me it covered things like: choices for the database being used (course databases)
, the support contract that had to be offered (course: service level management)
, design decisions (course: Programming in C).
The project lasted for an entire year and went along side other courses, the courses
that had something to do with it would reserve time for the project (say:20% for the project
and 80% for the general theory and practice). A great deal of the project was done
after school hours because you had to cooperate with all the different students
some of them where on different locations.
And what i learned from the project is that the cooperation with your team members is a
huge factor. If that fails you either try to solve it or get out. The first weeks
when i started i had a confrontation with one of my team members which i disliked from
the start. He actively made friends with the other team members and made sure he
was the first one in all the time and the last one to leave. Which can be a good thing
ofcourse, but only when the atmosphere is pleasant, not if is only being done to
out preform someone use it against them every chance you get. All this is ofcourse seen
from my perspective and i'm sure his side can have a different explanation but i doubt it.
After 3 weeks the time bomb exploded and it ended, and indeed all the extra cm's (not miles)
he put in the project where used against me, along with some made up things and things out
of context, but at that point i realized that even if he was not telling the truth and
i could defend myself it wasn't helping. The work enviroment was tense and shut to pieces,
cooperation would have been impossible. So i said screw you then and went to the 'competition'
another team knew what was going on and they asked me if i wanted to join them...
So in every aspect it was a real life example. And it was worth every minute spent on it...
" in 25 years we will have ONE THOUSAND times the performance.
and, in 50 years we will have ONE MILLION TIMES THE PERFORMANCE!!!!!!!"
Yeah... we've been doubling for the last 25 years already, so in 25 years
we're at a million already...
I know someone who has a mild case of OCD ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obsessive-compulsive_ disorder )
he has to say a certain word 5 times else it will get stuck in his head and it drives him crazy.
Whenever he said the words they will be blocked out of his memory after 30 minutes ago. He can't remember
the word he said. Even if i tell him he forgets it again after 5 minutes and he can't remember actually

Am i missing something ? Or isn't this news?

just a thought...
Do you mean the same as they have in germany?
Over there when the yellow light come on
from the red, the other side goes from green
to yellow, so they're both yellow at the same
time...
I've never seen anybody move his house over public roads, but i do see myself waiting for red lights, about 10 times a day, that are absolutely unnecessary....

That's the difference.

Can you give me a couple of pointers for a site with some info about what you are talking about because my google search got me things like: http://www.cs.toronto.edu/~csc408h/fall http://www.cs.toronto.edu/~yijun/csc408h/teams/con traption/Contraption_phaseArevisited.doc

(ok i copy pasted the worst links but the rest didn't help me either)

it's not difficult , it took me about 3 minutes to get it working... http://uranus.it.swin.edu.au/~jn/linux/explore2fs. htm
